ive said it before...Kyle and FO would be absolute morons to let the QB that helped get the Niners to two Super Bowl appearances (including a win) in three years go.

So in this scenario, the FO built a roster that got to two SBs and won one and your conclusion is that they're absolute morons?

absolutely

even if we win the Super Bowl this year, I expect the Brick AFTER Brick Brothers to turn their back on Grappy... and many here will even agree on the move because they will continue to believe that The BEST YOUNG MIND IN FOOTBALL is the reason and will win again and again with Baby Face !!

for now tho..

GO NINERSSSSSSS !!!!

He will have earned his contract and I would let him run it back. Rodgers turned out fine sitting a couple years behind Favre. Play it back again like this year. Let Lance develop, and be insurance.

How's Jordan Love doing sitting for multiple years? Dude looked lost out there this yr. ONE example of someone sitting for years doesn't make it the case or every player. Jimmy is not Favre. GB did NOT give up 3 1sts and a 3rd for Rogers, he fell into their laps.... Rookie QB contracts are gold and you're letting it rot on the sidelines.

We don't know how well or not Love is developing. My example just means that there is a successful example of a QB sitting for 2-3 years behind a starter. Doesn't mean it will work eveytime.

Trust me, I'm ready to move on to Trey as well. But.....do you discard a SB winning QB(hypothetically speaking) the following year?

Jimmy's contract will prevent other signings but it will be a discount for a QB who has won a SB, other than Big Ben who is in his last year.

Plus he's adored in the locker room and throughout management.

I'm just saying, it's going to be a hard decision if we win the whole thing this year. There are plenty of good points to let Jimmy go, but winning the SB would make one question if it's even the right thing to do. Kyle isn't going to hand a SB winning team over to Trey just to satisfy all the 1st rounders given up for him. Especially if he feels Jimmy can run it back and Trey needs more seasoning

On locker room leadership, Trey is also beloved as a player, and I don't think his personality or his rookieness will be a hinderance next year if Jimmy is traded. These are professional athletes and will do their jobs as best as possible whoever the QB is. They will get behind Trey as long as Trey himself is a professional.

I saw some dimes that Trey threw in the Texas game that looked Jimmy-esque, and i was away. I think Trey is ready to take over, and keep in mind Kyle isn't going to hand the QB reigns over to somebody who isn't ready. Kyle didn't just give Jimmy the QB 1 positon right away when he was traded for either, Kyle let Jimmy incubate for a whole month before he started those last 5 games in 2017.

Those last 5 games came against teams that went 6-10, 4-12 and 2-14 plus 2 teams that had their playoff spot locked up. It was a good time to throw Jimmy in against teams without much on the line.

At some point before the start of the 2022 season, there will be a competition between Trey and Jimmy, and whether its on the field or whether it's in Kyle's mind or whether as a group the entire coaching staff does a secret vote, there is going to be a decision made as to who QB 1 will be. My bet is Trey. Having said that, if Jimmy does win lombardi #6, he does have a better shot at QB1 at that decision time moment. That particular moment (whenever and wherever it's going to be) is going to be the defining moment for 2022.

To win another SB will take an entire team effort and a defense that plays like it did last week. Even if 100% healthy Jimmy isn't going to throw for 360 yards and 4 TDs in the SB. That's not how this team wins. For that reason, I don't think a SB win will influence the decision one way or the other. The decision was made last April when they drafted Trey and gave up those draft picks. They were looking to the future and Jimmy's health issues and cap impact. Kyle stayed true to his plan when he stayed with Jimmy and resisted the talk about switching to Trey. Next year I expect him to make the best deal they can get for Jimmy and move on.

Of course it's obvious 49ers are moving on from Jimmy. 3 first round picks say that. The question is *when.* The obvious answer is after this season to get the best draft capital bang for the buck. But *if* Jimmy wins a Super bowl, I think the 49ers do have to revisit the decision and re-evaluate where Trey is vs where Jimmy's trade value is at. My bet is still Trey being QB 1 and Jimmy having a new home next year, but Jimmy winning the super bowl changes the decision dynamics a little bit.

Why? If anything, Jimmy carrying the team and winning the superbowl on his back maximizes his trade potential, which is even more incentive to move him. That's 20 something million dollars we need to pay bosa, deebo and probably a CB

Well, for one thing, Jed *might* want to put his two cents in about trading Jimmy. I know Kraft didn't want Tom traded and guess who won?
Why would you say "its not going to happen" ?

I don't see how they can keep Jimmy and pay Deebo. If they some how manage both then I'm in.

I'd rather see them keep Deebo

There are so many options
If trey starts next year we are likely not in the playoffs.

The texas game says he's right there, and if this team can keep most of its critical pieces like Arden Key, etc... they have a playoff level team with Trey and his skill set.
I dont wish anything ill towards Jimmy, but he's due for an serious injury next year. We wouldn't have made the playoffs this year without Trey winning at Texas.

They may also draft a backup in the late rounds or sign an UDFA. Lot's of small college QBs can fill that spot in an offense like Kyle runs. It would be nice to find another gy that can move well so if Trey get's injured they don't need to change the offense. Buffalo signed Trubisky as Allen's backup because he's mobile. Obviously he doesn't have the arm but everything else is similar.

IIf we we play the Houston Texans 17 times next year, we're in the playoffs with trey

Trey will not be ready to be a consistent winner next year come September. So the first half of the year will probably be 2-6, 3-5 somewhere in there. The second half of the year will be better but not sure will get the 10 wins.
