SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at LOS ANGELES RAMS - 2021 Season NFC Championship Game

Getting to the playoffs with a top 10 QB alone is difficult. I think we can pretty much agree that it takes a team to win a Super Bowl but umm whatever happen to that saying, how's it go now......oh yeah defense wins championships. Too bad Jimmy didn't have one of those today.

The defence allowed 20 points. Fewer points than the Bengals allowed vs the Chiefs.

Given his limitations Jimmy G played fairly well. The issue is the limitations.

Garoppolo went 3-for-9 for 30 yards and that interception in the fourth quarter. In his six playoffs games with the 49ers, he has a 28.0 passer rating in the fourth quarter, ranking last among 69 quarterbacks with 30 or more fourth-quarter passes in the playoffs since 1991.

Kupp and OBJ both had 100 yards receiving. That was a huge part of why the 9ers lost. And I think you're leaving out time of possession, the defense just could not get off the field either. But yes the offense is to blame too no doubt, but how the 9ers gashed the Rams in the past is exactly how they beat the 9ers, with the running game. And the 9ers running game was shut down, not even Rodgers could operate without one.

Our 3rd down D was atrocious. Rams converted 11 out of 18 (we were 3 out of 9) but they had less yards per run AND pass than the niners. So it's not like their run game was even as good. Our OL really s**t the bed the last 2 games.

INJURIES are quite fun. MM goes down so we have a Backup Guard in Compton playing RT. If we had Verrett or a cb close to his skill set we EASILY WIN. Same with Dee Ford.

At least we attempted to fix the situation with Banks but damn, sometimes it pays off to be more like the Rams. If you lose a player, you trade for one so the drop off isn't as bad like it was at Tackle and cb this year. That would of saved our season and helped us win this game imo.

Wow, that's awful.

My family were all texting me asking me why that bum was still playing, he's terrible and why weren't we trying to play Trey

Painful loss. Yeah I didn't expect to get this far but honestly these types of losses hurt the worst because they're winnable games. I'd rather get blown out. At least then I know "ok they are clearly just a better team." These losses suck because we could and should have easily beaten them. Inconsistency at QB and a suspect secondary really cost us.

Yeah I don't get where this notion of "be happy we were supposed to get this far" came from. I personally would like to see a Super Bowl or two before I die. That isn't a tough ask especially with the rich history of this franchise.

tell that to Vikings, Browns, Bills, Cardinals, Bengals, Falcons, Chargers and Lions fans. some of those teams have never even been to the Super Bowl

Hey now, how about us.....

Jaguars and Texans.......

The rams needed OBJ, Von Miller, Ramsey, and Stafford just to beat a jimmy g led team by 3. It sucks to lose, but god damn I feel good about next season. Let the Trey era begin.

And holy crap if Trey can just pass the ball good enough to keep defenses out honest and force them to play both the pass and the run. Holy shhhhhh… we can literally own the nfc.

He will. We already saw him throw some of those passes against Texans. He about about 4-5 throws that Jimmy will never be able to make.

So they improved and we didn't.. wonder why they are in the super bowl?
Before we spend all month doing the blame game, I want to say I have all the respect in the world for this team....very proud of them overall. We lost our CB1 & RB1 week one and went 3-5 over the next two months. Everyone thought they were done, SF lost players throughout the yr and they had little room for error to get where they are. We can blame coaching, Jimmy, or the defense for whatever, but f**k me they all play a part in them making it this far. I'm not calling this season a disappointment at all. It's so freaking hard to make it that far let a lone make it to the SB....a ton of luck involved.

Time to start the draft process

Yep. It's the next morning and I'm still feeling the burn. But it is what it is. They played hard and gave it their all. It wasn't meant to be this year. Maybe next year. Go Niners.
That's pretty crazy to think about

I'm 28 years old and never seen the 49ers WIN! a Super Bowl in my life time, maybe it'll happen sometime in my 30's

KNBR was talking bout this on the show this morning. 3 NFC Championship losses and 2 SB losses in the last few years. So different from the golden years when they were winning all these games. Now they are just good enough to get in position to lose the big one. This game reminded me a little of the SB with KC. We entered the 4th quarter with a big lead and then their defense stepped up the pressure and our offense went cold. Both games changed after an INT or in this case a missed one.

The difference? No superstar QB.

Until the team gets another superstar QB we will continue to be the Buffalo Bill's of the 2000 era...
