SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at LOS ANGELES RAMS - 2021 Season NFC Championship Game

Playoff record:
Bill Walsh 10-4
Kyle Shanahan 4-2
Marty Schottenheimer 6-13

Seems like Kyle is mich closer to Bill Walsh than Marty Schottenheimer
The Rams basically flipped the script on us yesterday. They were the team that stuffed the run. They were the team that got the pressure on the QB at the end. They were the team that controlled the clock with that 18 play, 97 yard drive in the first half.

Everything the Niners did to them in the regular season they kind of did to us yesterday. This is why I was so concerned going into the game. When your team plays so many close games that often turn on a play or two, eventually the breaks will go against you. That and winning streaks always end at some point.

That's pretty crazy to think about

Why this team is great and the coaching is greater.

and yet we have people saying coaching is the problem

Except Bill would have already won a SB and at similar points in their careers would be going into his second SB season while Marty never won one so technically Kyle is closer to Marty than he is Bill.

See here's the problem. Deebo is in his prime. Aiyuk is coming into his own. Kittle is in his prime. Bosa is in his prime. Fred Warner is in prime. Those guys are ready to win right now. Trey is at best 2 yrs away from being good. How do you square this circle?

Besides Aaron Rodgers, I don't see anyone else who could utilize the offense. This team is a safety, few linemen and a qb away from being a Super Bowl caliber team.

only if John lynch decides to not be cheap and invest on what's important rather than " we trust our guys " or what ever he always says when secondary is brought up to him

Oh good. You agree we need a real QB. Bout time.

49ers do have a REAL QB in Jimmy Garoppolo, too bad the 49ers fan base don't think so. Top 12 QB isn't too bad. Too bad the 49ers secondary is fools gold.

Ahhhh…. Nobody thinks that but you buddy.

Wow in your unbiased opinion where would you rank Jimmy?? I gotta see this.

Less than EVERY QB in the playoffs. Start to finish. Around 15.

So between Roethelisberger and Tannehill then, how is that not a REAL QB again?? Let me remind you that both were in the playoffs.

Nah. There were 14 QBs in the playoffs I'm not mistaken.

You think Tannehill is better than Jimmy, lol, I said unbiased opinion. He threw for two more picks than Jimmy, less yards and chokes harder than Jimmy in the playoffs. Same as Roethlisberger, you actually think he's better than Jimmy?? Wow.

Uh, that's what I said. Yes I do.
How many total yards has Jimmy thrown for in his playoff career? Don't be dumb. Until tonight his average 150 yards per game. Horrible.

Most of those yards are YAC.

After they showed that Donald speech on the sidleine they just crushed our o line. and threw in a bated pass. that winning streak was great motivation for the Rams.
The things that disturbed me most weren't the non-executed individual plays. It was:
- No creativity and not just in this game but most of the season. What happened to all those creative plays Shanny was always known for?
- Running game became basically, all dive plays
- Lack of getting Kittle more involved (this season)
- Seemingly no adjustments to other team's gameplan
- Not scheming to take away Kupp!!! Bill Belichick would have held Kupp to 3 or 4 catches for 40 meaningless yards
- Lack of high percentage "gotta have it" plays on offense. Not just this game either. I mean, do we even have plays for 4th and short besides "Deebo Dive"?

If you want to play this game:

First 5 seasons as a HC:
Bill Belichick: just 1 playoff appearance, playoff record 1-1

So Kyle is much better than Bill Belichick. I would take that.

I was also pissed that yet again we use Williams as the fullback to clear out the right edge and instead of running behind the freight train, we cut up the middle to the backside defenders waiting for no gain. Follow the big man and use his block!!!

I think Kittle was a little more banged up than we knew but I too wondered why he wasn't used more as a receiver. he seems to be able to get open whenever he wants to and he's a load to bring down.

I watched the replay seemed even if he would have there was multiple unblocked rams players there also I think we should of thrown there since the rams where bringing everyone to stop the run
It was a nice run. Hopping over to the Draft Forum and Parking Lot.

Except BB already had two rings as a DC on the side of the ball that was most responsible for his teams wins and Kyle ...well he blew his shot to win one as an OC.

BB also won one on his 2nd coaching stint and if Kyle ever gets there I have my reservations it's going to be here. He's already going into his 6th season and it's looking like it full go with a 21 year old kid who's only had 2 starts.

I think it's partly because our Starting RT went down early in the year and the backups Kyle had chosen were not good enough and required Kittle to stay in and block.

trying to put that out of my mind, so......

Even if tartt intercepts the ball, the offense was sputtering and couldn't do anything. Who's to say Jimmy doesn't throw another INT. It's Trey lances time now and hopefully Shanahan can develop him and coddle him like he did for Jimmy especially with way more talent.
