When Lynch called to trade for Rodgers the night before the draft, I'm sure he probably dangled the 3rd overall pick.
Rodgers on the Niners would net us 1 possibly 2 super bowls?
Any scenario that gets the back to back MVP Rodgers on this roster mostly untouched and under the cap is always the right scenario.
It's also a fantasy.
Our starting quarterback is now Trey Lance.
Agreed. Last year was our shot at trading for him but the Packers weren't budging. Now it is not happening

I'd rather have Dick Tullens as backup.

Why is this even a question? At this point it's pretty obvious who it's going to be. Backup is a bigger question. I would prefer a backup that has a similar skillset to Trey just like Mullens was similar to Jimmy. You don't want to have to change your offense too much if your starter gets hurt.

Bring in Brady!! Hell, Steve Young can probably win with this team.

With all the capital sunk into Lance, backing off him would send the message of a weak organization. If he's a bust heads will roll. That said 3 or 4 years of Rodgers would send 49er fans to Joe Montana heaven.

Sure bring in Rodgers. We need someone to hold Lance's clipboard.

No s**t, exactly. Cant believe peeps think it could be someone other than Trey. They must really have their doubts about him.

Actually it's Dick Beathard
If there's anything that fans can take away from this parting w/ Jimmy, is that this organization values locker room culture. No way they look at Aaron Rodgers

Trey Lance.
I am a Jimmy supporter, but regardless of how I feel about Jimmy or the trade to move up in the draft, the trade has been made. We don't get our draft picks back by sitting on Trey Lance and keeping Jimmy in the mix (although if we could somehow get our picks back, that would be the ideal)
We paid way too much for Trey (too much for the trade to ever be anything other than a bust, tbh), and we can't keep him on the side. There's no more bringing back Jimmy, there's no bringing in Brady or Rodgers. The starting QB next year, 100%, for sure and for certain, needs to be Trey Lance.
Last year, I said that if the starting QB was anyone other than Jimmy Garoppolo, then this regime entirely f'd up.
This year, I say that if the starting QB is anyone other than Trey Lance, then the regime entirely f'd up.
At this point, it's quite frankly way beyond who's better between Jimmy, Trey, or anyone else. It's about the team as a whole. I think the team as a whole was better off staying put in the draft, picking whoever was available at #12, and keeping the future picks to add further depth and pieces to the roster. You would have had a more complete team with that method, even if the QB was a little bit less. But the price has already been paid, so it's time to roll with Trey and see what he is, and start building with him.

Packers players love Rodgers…. But we aren't looking at him cause we don't have anything to give the Packers they want. We can't afford him. They would never trade us a bonafide rival the league MVP.
