I'll miss Jimmy. I will always respect him and remember him fondly for the way he brought the 49ers from the bottom of the barrel and launched them to relevance. He got a very raw deal here from the fanbase and the media and was never truly embraced by either, but considering that the 49ers have a pretty trashbag fanbase and media, and we saw this exact same thing during Alex / Colin, that's not really any surprise (I basically lost all respect for this fanbase after "We Want Carr")
I think the 49ers are about to take a major step back with Jimmy's departure. I have absolutely 0 confidence right now in Trey Lance to pick up where Jimmy left off and keep it moving forward. I think this team is going to take a major step back and lose a number of years of our window as contenders so we can play with an experiment in a chase for "grass is greener". Jimmy wasn't the greatest QB to ever step on a 49ers field, but he was part of a winning formula.
Unfortunately, circumstances have dictated that it is time to move on, regardless of what our results will be. A decision was made, and we have to live with the outcome, good or bad. This team is Trey's now. Good luck to Jimmy wherever he goes. Sorry you couldn't have been more embraced while you were here.

Probably the third best since I have been following.
The team had been fun to follow when he is starting.
Thanks and best of luck to Jimmy G.

Good final season for Jimmy G and the 9ers consider the circumstances, but his time with the 9ers and luck has finally ran out. If the 9ers had a better QB, during his time here, they could have easily won 2 SB, but good QB and QB play is hard to come by in the NFL.

Love him or hate him, Jimmy made the team relevant again. Just fell short of the ultimate goal.

There are two other Garoppolo threads to express other sentiments.
It's such a simple request.

Respect. He played well enough to win this game. And he pushed the niners into the "winners circle" from a dumpster fire.
Good luck on your next team. I expect you'll improve them just like you did it here.

I wish Jimmy nothing but the best as long as it doesn't cost us. He is a great dude and despite what some people claim did his part to help us win.
I wish he was leaving here with a ring but two seasons where he was healthy enough to start the majority of the games we got to watch some really fun 49er football.

To me, the way Jimmy has handled this past year is an indication of why he has been such a rallying point and inspiration to his teammates. He never allowed the team to quit no matter the situation. That became emblematic of the team as they battled back from that horrendous start. A lesser person would have thrown up their hands and said, "I'm out of here." Without his attitude, this team would never have reached the height it did.
His greatest shortcoming was that he was a good, not great quarterback. While the fanbase expected the next Tom Brady and his first handful of games suggested they might get something close, that was not to be. In an area that grew up with two HOF QBs, the bar was set very high. Not being Brady or Joe or Steve was an impossible bar to reach. Though he never reached that level, he has set the bar quite high for Trey Lance. The NFCCG is the floor now.
Thank you, Jimmy, for your class and some great moments. You have left a legacy of character and determination that will live on in your teammates that remain. Best of luck to you wherever you land.

I mean, you get both sides of the argument in all of the threads. People even jump into silver lining thread to take a s**t. But if you're going for a thread where everyone is gonna agree with you, good luck!
