That's your opinion. How Many pro bowls did Jimmy G make so far in the NFL and as a 9er?
Enough said LOL.
How many did Alex? Zero. LMAO
What a JOKE. The 9ers sucked while Alex Smith was here. They had Crabtree as their #1 WR and no one else, at least Kyle knows what a good WR and running back looks like unlike Harb LOL. Furthermore Harb bet on a fraud name Kraperchoke LOL, even though Jimmy G was not a franchise QB he was still better and more serviceable than that fraud Kraperchoke LOL.
Oh and don't forget you were the one that claimed Kirk Cousins was a legit QB LOL!!!! Legit enough to get another HC fired ROFL.
I was trashed for saying Alex was tougher, so guess I'll just say more durable. Definitely more careful with the ball. Arm strength was comparable. Way more mobile. Jimmy was more successful while here, but he had the benefit of having Kyle the whole time. I truly believe had Alex been in Jimmy's situation, we'd have won some trophies.

its funny that Alex has a meaningful throw in 49ers history and Jimmy doesn't lol.... he had a great chance to have one too

Thanks for trying I guess, seems like a great guy and teammates love him but he just doesn't have the IT factor to win when it's most on the line. That to me separated the good from the great which is why this league only has a few greats.

Mediocre quarterback who choked in big time playoff games. Thanks, I guess....

I know Jimmy will get a lot of hate on this board for his time with SF. He joined during some dark years and when he stepped on the field, he made the rest of 2017 exciting and gave us all hope for a better future. In 2019, he along with the team brought that winning culture back. Jimmy had some great moments that season like, the game winner to Wilson vs AZ, the duel with Brees in NO, the two 3rd and 16 passes against the Lambs in December and he had some moments this season too. We knew he had limitations, but let's appreciate the guy for good times he helped bring back to 49ers football in a while. Jimmy had his opportunities to be better, but his time is up now, so let's be thankful for what he did and now we let the Lance era begin. The dynasty begins now.

If he is gone I hope he is in the AFC and I can cheer for that team.
I can see reason for upgrades (and pray Lance is the one) but will always appreciate what Jimmy brought and it has been a heck of a ride. Mostly I will appreciate what he has probably taught Trey Lance in the last year.

One thing I always liked about Jimmy was that he always showed more class than the people who spent their time in this forum ripping him.
The above is a case in point. Someone tries to make a thread where people could come in and express their appreciation for a guy who always gave his best and helped bring the team back from the bottom of the division and three pages in one of the usual suspects decides that the most beneficial use of his time is to come in here and take another petty shot at a player he has decided he doesn't like.
I guess some people just can't help themselves. I have been told that a lot of mental illnesses manifest themselves that way.

Nope, Jimmy is gone. They aren't going to tip their hand to their off-season moves in an emotional postgame but the decision was already made after the Lance trade up. Jimmy needed to win the Super Bowl if he wanted to stay and even then it was shaky. There's too much invested into Lance and too many FAs and big contracts they need to get done to keep Jimmy at his price tag.

I appreciate the hell out of him leaving.

I respect Jimmy and really wanted him to succeed and win a super bowl, but it just wasn't in the cards. He is a great leader and teammate, but lacks the natural skill needed to play the position. The quote that 49ers can win with Jimmy but don't win because of Jimmy is very true. We have had elite teams and if we had a skilled QB, we would have a couple more super bowl trophies. I really wanted Stafford this offseason because he is an ELITE talent and on this team, I have no doubts we would've won it all.
We had some fun years filled with some good memories with Jimmy and I salute his efforts. He is the definition of a team player. Now it's time for Lance to drive this car and I have trust he will drive it well.
Cheers to Jimmy and best of luck wherever you land.

All the respect in the world for Jimmy as a teammate. Jimmy was a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs…he's not a bad QB at all, but there's got to be something more at the position.
