IMO he's Alex Smith.

Alex Smith fetched us two second round picks...

Yup, and quite a few QB despite teams. Hope we can scam one to take this guy.

I got nothing but respect for Jimmy and he played a part in getting SF to a SB and NFCC. I think there's a limited ability there and it was pretty obvious throughout the playoffs. Let Kyle get working with Lance and we will see what a QB with top end traits can do on this team.

What top end traits does Trey have? And please define top end

Here it is guys.

We are a power rushing team. We run over people and control the time of possession. We are a much more powerful team when we run well. The power running sets up the throws for the 49ers.

Rushing

Samuel 7 - 26 - 3.7 average. 0 TD'S.

Mitchell 11 - 20 - 1.8 average. 0 TD'S.

Jimmy G 1 - 4 - 4 average. 0 TD'S.

Juszczyk 1 - 0 - 0 average. 0 TD'S.

Grand total 20 - 50 - 2.5 average. 0 TD'S.

I guarantee you it's not what we did in our 6 - 0 run vs them.

No way in hell the 49ers were going to win a game like that. That's what we did rushing. All game long. The way we are built it was our best chance.

We have our way with other teams in the run game. That's how we do it.

The Rams made the adjustments. They stacked the line and punched us in the mouth in the running game. In the 6 - 0 previous we didn't fail this bad against them running.

If you told me these would be our final rushing totals at the beginning of the game I wouldn't even believe you. It's how we lost.

Nobody was talking about it? Hah it was glaringly obvious that we couldn't run the ball and that's why we were struggling.

Dude we haven't been able to run the ball effectively for a while. The only reason our running stats looking good at all is because they ran the ball so much and use personnel group advantages (named Deebo). I like Mitchell and I think he has a chance to be a top end RB BUT out run blocking down the stretch was not good. Teams aren't given SF the outside anymore on those OZ runs. They're constantly shoving 8+ men in the box (Mitchell had damn near the most 8+ men in the boxes this yr). All year they dared Jimmy to beat them with his arm.

One thing I noticed being at the game was that from the start, almost every single Rams passing play of the 1st half was targeting #20 Ambry Thomas. They were really picking in him. He didn't get much safety help behind him. I'm not sure what the stat line was, but they must've completed 6 passes or so for 60 yards early on. K'Waun had a terrible game. They got beat to the corner of the end zone, safeties always seemed like they were late.

Jimmie Ward had that huge goal line interception early, which kept the game from getting away. But Tartt with that dropped INT will haunt me for awhile. We were all celebrating because I really thought he had it and then when I looked back the ball was on the turf. That was such a gut punch. The end of the game felt a lot like the Super Bowl. I thought when we took the delay of game and punted on 4th and 2, that would be something we regretted because you get the 1st there and you most likely win the game. It was a horrible feeling walking out of there after the last turnover and they were just running out the clock. I didn't even want to look at the field, just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Rams stadium cameras were actually showing Niners fans filing out of the stadium for quite awhile. Really classy. Never been in an opposing stadium before yesterday. Don't think I'll ever do that again. Man, the Rams aren't even that good. This was such a winnable game.

When will we get another chance like this to go to the Super Bowl? I know it's just been a couple years since we were in one but with Jimmy leaving, it's going to be a completely different offense. If we had kept our 1st rounder and drafted a top corner instead of Ambry in the 3rd maybe we would've gone all the way this year. By trading away all of our 1st rounders for the next couple years, the decision looks to have sacrificed 2021-2022. We could've had a mid 1st round corner or guard contributing this year. We're gonna be starting over again with Lance and there's no telling if we'll be better or worse as a team with the lack of early draft picks.

This seems to have been a problem for awhile now

And when the run is obviously being stuffed, apparently Kyle only has 15 yard routes after that.

No short easy routes on 1st downs like Stafford had.

Rams 2nd and 3
9ers 2nd and 11

Oh boy . . .

Yup.

kyles commitment to his guy jimmy had consequences and they finally buy him in the a$$.

Lot6 of simple throws that are not in our playbook. Jimmy can throw a check down. Jimmy can throw a screen. Jimmy can throw a 7 yard come back. Not in shanny's route tree. Call off the jimmy attack dogs. Dude is headed for surgery and a better pass scheme somewhere in the nfl.

gotta blame everyone else.....not sure but I think I saw plenty short routes in every damn game (go look at his passing chart over the year) How many 4 yard slants do we need to see to say this simply isn't the truth. The Rams were able to actually run the ball. SF couldn't and at that point you need someone else like the QB to beat them, he didn't. Everyone else ran out of gas and I don't blame them one bit.

Well the passing game effects your EPA running the ball, doesn't it?

BS. There's check downs all over those play calls. Screens? Like the one he threw at Ayiuk's foot? Deebo get's multiple screen passes a game. Damn near all of Jimmy's throws are easy throws. We calling a 4 yard slant "hard" now? Is what it is man. He didn't played well in the playoffs. The team ran out of gas...wasn't all Jimmy's fault but at some point you need the QB to make those big plays when you're in the playoffs.

We went 6 - 0 running the ball on them across many seasons. But couldn't tonight. What changed so much?

They actually commented to it and we couldn't get them out of it.

I really do think things change if Jimmy hits that pass to Kittle instead of airballing it like he did.

Also, just because something worked in the past, doesn't mean it'll continue to work.

Perhaps but it worked for 6 - 0 across many seasons. It's obvious they were stacking the middle. I would have liked to see more jet sweeps and reverses. Commit to the run game but throw some change ups in there instead of slamming it into the very crowded middle that they wanted to stop. We didn't make the adjustments.

This. Plus can they double up on Kupp? Every third and long, I said 'here we go to Kup" and sure enough. Especially when already in field goal range, it was a toss to Kup in the endzone.
