For all the posters that state
QB- This is MOTO master of obvious. The team went "ALL IN" on Lance. We know this. Nate Sudfield will be back up and get whatever as a developmental qb
OL- Get real, the team knows this why do you think they got Aaron Banks for Guard and Jaylon Moore at G/T? And Alex mack at Center. Brunskill can be re signed as a ERFA, Mcghlincy is on his prove it fifth year option. Tom Compton can be had for cheap again. The OL is not the biggest weakness
HB- they drafted Elijah Mitchell and Trey Sermon. Now they need a few more because Kyles RB's always get hurt. Anyone who can hit the hole.
CB and Safety. When I put FA and mock drafts in play, shut down CB number one for FA. Also Any draft compensation for Jimmy and our second and third round pick should be BPA for the secondary PERIOD!!

Earlier this year I would have said better DBs. But I think that unit has improved. If we don't have any major losses in FA, then we can just go best player available.

I think we need another reliable receiver especially now that Deebo lines up in the backfield as much as he does. Free Agency?

While I think Edge/CB would be the best way to improve the 2022 team, I think OL is the best way to improve the 2022+ team. Lance needs to learn to play from the pocket, and giving him adequate pass protection is important to that cause. But not just pass protection, a better interior OL will also help the QB's best friend, the running game. That's why I think OL is priority #1.
They should throw money at the problem because I'm not trusting the team's OL picks. The team could splurge on Kyle's former guard in WAS, Brandon Scherff, but I don't think that's necessary. Seems to be a good number of decent guards available. The team also needs to re-sign Tomlinson, and Alex Mack can retire at any time. Tough spot because it sounds like bad cap management to sign two guards to higher-than-average multiyear deals. Running it back with Brunskill doesn't sound exciting.

Paying a starting QB $7M on a rookie contract allows for moves like this.

It'll be interesting to see what the team does with the cap space earned from having a rookie QB contract. Guys like Kittle, Warner, Trent will see their cap hits bump up in 2022. A couple studs need to be extended but those won't hit until 2023 (Deebo, Bosa). The cap is projected to increase too. But you're right, they have some money to play with due to Lance's cheap contract. I hope they use it to bolster the OL even if, imo, that won't result in the same payoff in 2022 as improving DL/DB.

Unless you missed the last game, not sure how you can say that. We definitely need a top CB.
I think with more seasoning, they'll be ok.
We can do much better than "ok".
Yeah, I know - but, we don't have many options.

That's what's so tough about the OG situation. They spend a high pick on one last year then a 5th on another . …and here we are talking about having to possibly shell out money for a RG in addition to resigning the LG. That's why, at least to me, Banks has to be the guy. Of not a guy that is interesting in FA is Connor Williams , but he could be getting north of 10mil per

Tomlinson will get a top10 guard deal for sure possibly top5, and like your emoji, spending another $10 at the other guard spot doesn't sound like a good idea. They needed to nail that Aaron Banks pick after investing so highly into that position - I consider a day 2 pick a high pick for interior OL. If he can be that guy, it solves a big problem, but he is such a question mark. The team needs to be honest with themselves and not go into 2022 with blind hope that Banks is the guy. If there is any doubt, I hope they are proactive about it. I'll never call a rookie a bust, but him not being able to beat out Brunskill is worrisome.
I want to improve the position but not spend a lot of salary cap on it - I don't think I'm being very realistic. My guess is they re-sign Tomlinson then be patient with Banks, with Brunskill acting as the security blanket.

Yeah, but our team's MO is to pay/reward homegrown talent that has proven successful in our system first. We're gonna extend Deebo, Bosa to massive contracts… presumably Tomlinson, Al-Shair, Greenlaw to more moderate contracts. Maybe D.J. Jones.
Then you throw in potential needs at CB, edge rusher… with the salary cap, not saying we can't go over big name guards… but the team has to prioritize and make prudent decisions.

Agreed . Hate to hang our hats on hope, but really gotta hope Banks or Moore locks down that spot.

For sure they need to make smart decisions. A good problem to have because it means there's a lot of talent on the roster. I don't think both Greenlaw and Shaair will be extended, and having two off the ball LBs is adequate, especially with Warner having a large contract (Warner + Shaair OR Greenlaw). Not a fan of paying the third LB a moderate sized deal, but maybe I'm overestimating what Shaair/Greenlaw will get.
We need Shaair to prove he's the real deal and can function next to Warner since Shaair is a RFA. Greenlaw will be UFA in 2023 and could earn a nice deal in free agency if he turns in a good 2022. Perhaps extending Greenlaw now, after an injury riddled 2021, is the smart move.

OL is the biggest one IMO. You don't make a massive investment in a QB the way the 49ers did with Lance and then throw him out there with subpar protection. The entire right side of the line needs to be replaced, especially right guard. If Banks isn't that guy then they need to bring someone in that is. If you're going to be throwing a young QB out there, you need to give them the confidence that they will have time to go through their reads and find the open receiver. Above all else that has to be the priority. Give Lance everything he needs to succeed.
After that, CB and edge rusher. Better depth at CB, even if you bring back someone like Verrett, as well a consistent edge rusher across from Bosa, someone that fills the role that Dee Ford was supposed to have filled. The pass rush was great at times and then fell off because outside of Bosa and Armstead it was a bunch of rotational depth guys. They need at least one more consistent pass rushing threat that can take advantage of all the attention that gets paid to Bosa.

I agree O line is an issue and needs to be addressed. As far as the defense yes we need another edge rusher but I'm not sure they're willing to pay what it will take to get one in FA so I think drafting one and developing might be the best route there. Where I disagree with you a little bit is I think we need to go out and get a proven quality veteran CB,Especially for the playoffs. We have seen that in the playoffs the refs tend to swallow the whistle on the holding penalties and I think that's what is hurting or pass rush the most. We need to be able to cover better when that happens. Our Rookie cornerbacks look promising but I would hate to go into another playoff game without a proven player back there.

Do you consider MM as a part of the right side that needs to be replaced?
