Not really. What if it's a game that the pass rush isn't getting home? We need guys who can cover. What if the refs aren't calling holding? you ok letting another team complete a 3rd and 15 b/c your db's mess up the coverage? Not me.

This is my thought process as well. Holding seems to be called much less (and has been like this for some time) during the playoffs. I want a solid DE, but I think going into next season with what the 49ers have at DB is risky. It's far too thin. Give me OL for Lance (and, because it needs upgrading regardless) and then a DB. That doesn't mean I think the 49ers should neglect DE, just don't neglect DB in favor of DE.

Corners are for more important to our future success imo. We can find ways to manufacture pressure.

I could not agree more we need to be able to cover better when the pressure just doesn't get there.
All of this! Refs don't call rape on our DL so it's up to coverage. Plus there are so many good-elite wrs we play against.

Bad corner coverage cost us 2 SBs. Also, this NFCCG. We absolutely need a very very good cb.

Yeah, I'm with guap - we need better corner play. I like Moseley and Thomas, but if we can do better we've got to upgrade.

Gilmore is going to be there, assuming he doesn't resign with the Panthers...

Own 4th (132) - Matt Araiza; P - SDST
Own 5th (171) - Sevyn Banks; CB - Ohio St
Broncos' 6th (for LB Jonas Griffith) - Jesse Matthews; WR - SDST
Comp 7th - Max Borghi; RB - Wash State
Comp 7th - Dohnovan West; OC - Az State
Comp 7th - Jalyn Armour Davis; CB - Alabama

So you were completely ok with OL play? Folks there's a reason why Kittle has been relatively quiet this year; he was doing a LOT more blocking to cover for Compton who's playing out of place at tackle. That depth is horrible if we're asking a OG to play tackle. It's like thinking a secondary is okay by asking safeties to exclusively play corner.

You NAILED it NinerGM!

our QB is young, he'll need a lot of help on the D while developing... our OL, they are capable at the moment.. it's not like TREY is going to be an awesome passer already... I just rather build a D while the offense is developing... once the D is set, then we can plug in the offense easier..

This is the part i don't get. We spend 3 firsts on a QB and then we don't protect him? That just makes no sense to me. Trey is going to do no better than JG with Compton /Bruns on R side. We know they can play well against mediocre teams, but once in the playoffs, you can't get by with our current R side of OL. We invested in QB…now protect him, please.

Damn straight Mayo, it has to be a good enough cb that can severely limit Hopkins Obj Kupp DK Metcalf or Lockette for openers in our division. Not to mention the likes of so many other wrs in the conference/AFC.

Good call Golden. I was thinking either Gillmore (around 8-10 mil per year) or Casey Hayward (5 mil per year) depending on how much we can spend. I know JC Jackson if going to resign with the Patriots or be out of our price range.

Need our coach and team to move and be the actual winners of the super bowl.
O line help is imperative. We have to have better pass blockers or Trey is gonna find it hard to develop. One of the worst things you can do to a kid is throw him to the wolves without competent protection. The right side of our line is trash at pass protection.

You want the team to leave the Bay?

Absoultely!

Mack is ancient, we need to get a OC that will be with Lance for many years
We need to find a starting guard to help the right side

If we are able to squeeze the steelers for #20 we could land Zion Johnson and fill either spot depending on Macks decision.

Lol Gilmore and especially a team would be idiots to ask and give that at this stage of his career. He'll be sitting for a min if he's set on getting 20 mil per

Lot of teams have a ton of money. He may not get 20 but he wont be signing for 8-10.

Whole reason things fizzled in NE was he wanted the highest paid cb contract.
