What improvements need to be made?

All of this. But to win, just be better in half of these week to week.

Just about every one of these cost us a trip to the Superbowl. Literally.

Team Weakneses:
Defensive pass interference
Defense can't generate TO's
Defense fails late in games and in quick fashion
Defense instantly gives up a score immediately after going up double digits
3rd down pass defense
Defense piss poor tackling (and technique) at times
Offense missed a big opportunity/play
Offensive TO's lead to points the other way
Offensive TO's take points off the board
Offensive penalties at crucial times usually in the RZ or backed up (false starts, holdings, delays, etc.)
Receiver drops
Boneheaded team penalties at key moments
Kyle is bipolar with play calling
Kyle struggles with clock management at times
Kyle gets too cute or too conservative at times
Slow starts and/or poor second half adjustments
Must run 35+ times to have a chance to win
Unit pass protection collapse in predictable passing situations (includes RB's, FB and TE's)
Too many key injuries at key positions at key times
SpecialED teams

sign Right guard: if the team thinks Banks can't cut it, go sign a veteran to immediately fix this. Retain Tomlinson.

sign mid tier vet CB: need depth that isn't named Dontae Johnson or Josh Norman. Someone to push Moseley and Ambry Thomas. Bring back Verrett if possible but also sign someone with reliable health.

draft edge: let Kocurek choose someone to work his magic on. Take advantage of having one of the best DL coaches.

draft speed WR: to take Travis Benjamin's role as speedster.

draft safety: maybe it's Hufanga in 2022, but get young depth in here

I know the draft board doesn't always line up with the draft needs, but I think these would be the optimal positions to stock up on.
Where's ab to give us a possible rough estimate to see how our cap outlook looks this off-season. I know it's extremely early but I'm trying to get my mind off of last night and want to start looking forward to free agency and the draft.

Coaching and execution. These problems have been lingering around since Shanahan started. This place has been ideal for inexperienced defense coordinators to gain experience on the expense of the 49ers and leave for a head coaching job. Also ideal for assistant coaches not to worry about how bad they do because they won't get fired.
Forgot one:

A head coach who doesn't go autistic and fetal position

True true. I highlighted the ones above that cost us this game and sure enough, so much on coaching, game planning and poor execution. You nailed it.

Class act
O-line would be nice, then we could use Kittle a little more often. He's such an offensive powerhouse I hate to see him relegated to blocking most of the time.

Enhanced QB play would be REAL nice.

Our secondary just got torched. We've had serviceable play from our DBs but we got picked apart yesterday and there was no answer anywhere. Of course Tartt could learn to catch a football...that would be wonderful.

And Shanny could use a bi-weekly shot of test. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's our coach. But yeah. Test. Biweekly. In the buttocks.
So we looking at the Safety position in the Draft forum? We're getting old back there.

Yep

In this order.

Because no matter who you get at corner, if the offense can't translate defensive stops into points, it's only going to do two things (1) tire out the D because TOP is far too lopsided with the opponent and (2) give way too many opportunities to opposing offenses to score in a pro-scoring league.

Without sustained offense, we will never have a D that's good enough to win the big game every single time.

This is why I wasn't pissed last night.

It's like I've accepted the fate that we cannot "DESERVE" a BOWL until we have a top flight offense, and that requires a very good QB no matter how great our TEs, WRs, and RBs are, and how smart Kyle is.

Just how it is. I don't make the rules, don't love them either........just a reality of NFL life in 2022.....predating Jim Harbaugh's arrival to the team. Seattle and Denver were exceptions this past decade, but otherwise you needed a guy who can make plays.

If Jimmy had the ability to make off schedule plays at least 50% of the time (instead of like 10%), then that alone could have won us the SB 2 years ago, and probably this year in LA.

His pocket play was pretty good but Kyle tends to shut him down late in games when tight, then expects him to air it out when desperate. That's kinda unfair to the guy.

If Jimmy goes to a semi-stacked team that lets him throw more, I think he might see possible championship success.

But not on the 49ers with Kyle.
Go get Aaron Rodgers for a couple of years, let Lance sit behind him, find a veteran DB, and right side OL

Rodgers costs way to much money. The Packers won't trade him here. The Packers are going to want multiple first round picks and players for the back to back MVP.

We missed on Manning. We missed on Brady. I would hate to miss on another championship hungry veteran elite QB

I'd love to get Rodgers. But his cap hit is 40 million or something like that. And the Packers are gonna be looking for a kings ransom. So keeping Lance would probably be out of the question.

i dont think Rodgers is hungry to win

The day before the game he complained for 30 minutes on ESPN about being cancelled and silenced
