I don't care that Rodgers may be high maintenance. He makes the right reads and stretches the field. Something that is vastly missing and extremely apparent against the Rams.
Way less talented QBs in the NFC so Denver and whatnot might not make sense. Green Bay doesn't attract free agents and seems not to be able to keep them, small market.
Get a couple of picks for Jimmy add something and see if Green Bay bites. By the time Lance comes around this team might be in rebuild mode again. The time is now! Kiss Rodgers *ss for a year or two and go get another ring. The time is now!

My solution (which isn't worth that much) is not to give draft capital for the next few years to an unproven commodity. Lance has not played in 2 or 3 years, and played in division 2. He has not gone up against the best. If they could've had Lawrence or the Jets QB, would they have taken them over Lance? So, you are giving your future picks
for the potential 3rd or 4th or even 5th QB on the board. Maybe he's the second coming, but the odds are against it. If Shanahan is the genius everyone says he is could he not have groomed a QB or used free agency?
Taking the 3rd QB off the board in the draft does not mean he was the 3rd or 4th or 5th QB on
our big board.

I know right. The most common huge risk teams make is for a franchise QB. So yeah, you make the huge trade for a franchise QB. That's what they believe they have. We shall see.

Mmm... Trevor Lawrence was consensus #1 pick. Logically, given that we actually did have the #3 pick, Trey Lance was either the 2nd or 3rd QB on our board. Depends on how the 49ers viewed Zach Wilson.
Pretty sure they graded Zach Wilson as being a better prospect than Trey Lance, but would've had to weigh the upside.

Trevor was consensus #1 in the media but nobody knows where 31 other teams ranked him.
Trey could have been #1 on our board for all anyone here knows.

Get Lance ready and get back up help (maybe Josh Johnson)
Stud CB, more safety help / Wards back up (his replacement for when his time is up)
Oline guys who can actually step up when their number is called
Edge on Dline opposite of Bosa is good, but needs to be consistently better
Special Teams better not suck for most of the year and look great for only one or two games

That's true. We do know that he was AT LEAST #3 on their board. It still drives me nuts that there are some pundits who still stand on their stance that the 49ers truly wanted Mac Jones over Lance at #3. I'm just like... "What? If they wanted Jones, they would've drafted him.
"
Anyway... I'm excited about Trey. One thing that a lot of draft analysts said is that Trey had the biggest upside of any QB, even over Trevor Lawrence. Exciting to think about what he could ended up being.

I think we need a great 3rd down back..im talking we need a top 5 receiving back.....One that catch a ball out of the back field when teams send in blitzes .....So many times teams overloaded our O-line and Jimmy just had to turtle up .....we need to search high and low, because it would help Trey's development if we can get teams to back off and not hover around the line of scrimmage........On defense, we have to develop some type of blitz scheme that fits our style....we have to at least give other teams the idea that we MIGHT blitz....i feel teams got too comfortable play calling on 3rds because they knew the 9ers hardly ever blitz.....we have to blitz to get them guess wrong....

The only part of our off-season starting now that excites me, is that Trey can now start his and get to work on getting prepared for 2022.

We MAY have all the pieces in place, however, some of those pieces may not work out.
The only FAs I want to be signed are the ones already on the roster. There are not going to be any solid vets, especially CBs that we can afford. Build through the draft and coach them up.
Of course, the #1 need has been addressed. The future of this franchise and the current FO/HC is Trey Lance. We need a decent backup and there are plenty of Nick Foles-level guys around that you hope never to have to play.
We addressed CB with Thomas and Lenoir. Thomas looks like a long-term starter. Lenoir is backup at this point but could surprise. Moseley has been too spotty to be reliable. Williams needs some competition as well. Our 2nd needs to go there.
OL is my greatest concern. Mack will most likely retire. This was a one-song dance. The entire off-season needs to be devoted to getting Aaron Banks in the best condition possible. Shed some of that baby fat and get him ready to face Aaron Donald twice a year. Given neither Banks nor Moore were seen as fit for any snaps at all, perhaps the problem is Foerster and Barry need to be replaced as coaches.
You can never have too many pass rushers and you can never have too many running backs. The first one is more important than the other and harder to find.

Don't they need a decent backup qb to Lance. Feel like they don't have that on the roster

There is a less than zero chance GB would trade Rodgers here.

We need to draft and/or sign a badass blocking tight end. Someone who doesn't need to catch a single pass all year, but be a mauler in the blocking department.
I am sick and tired of our elite tight end blocking for 70% of the plays. What's even more infuriating is watching Kittle block while Woerner runs a pattern.
