He helped mold Justin Herbert. I think this has to do more with Trey Lance than anything
Everyone's high on this hire. I dunno about this one

These are the rankings of the Chargers on the ground with Lynn.

2017--99.7 (#24)
2018--110.1 (#18)
2019--90.8 (#28)
2020--111.5 (#18)

Now yards per run.

2017--3.8 (#26)
2018--4.5 (#12)
2019--4 (#23)
2020--3.8 (#30)

Unimpressive for a running game guru

Interesting you didn't include his work with the Bills in 2015 and 2016

Rushing Yards

2015 - 2432 (#1)
2016 - 2630 (#1)

Yards Per Carry

2015 - 4.8 (#2)
2016 - 5.3 (#1)

Not to mention that those Chargers teams had next to nothing for an O-line.

Good move, anything to make Trey's 1st year as a starter easier

Please, if Tyrod didn't have his lung punctured by the trainer Herbert probably wouldn't have even saw the field. Herbert didn't get any first team snaps before that.

Which is the right thing to do with a rookie QB

Is it though? He was rookie of the year right? A top ten QB is usually given the chance to compete for the starting spot at least. Especially if he's way more talented then the starter and team expectations aren't high.

He was the head coach in San Diego, I doubt he had much free time to be molding Herbert or any other QB. If anyone, Pep Hamilton deserves the most credit for the hands on work he did with Herbert and Davis Mills as QB coach in San Diego and Houston.

His specialty is and always has been the run game which is where he's going to have the greatest impact on this team, especially if McDaniel is indeed headed to Miami.

Every situation is different. Some guys seem to benefit from playing right away, while for others a year of learning is invaluable. The trick is figuring out which.

This is great. Bringing in an adult mature voice. Fantastic. Good run guy. But I was hoping to add a pass-first guru. How is this guy's air game?

With all the wide open WRs we have each week, it's clear the passing scheme is fine.

I'm feeling a new pff stat coming, wide open misses. What's jimmy's wide open miss rate, and where does it stand among all qb's? What's a really bad wide open miss rate? Do you count wide open misses even if the pass is complete? If a qb completes a pass but there are TWO wide open players is that twice as bad? If a qb gets sacked and there are three wide open players, do all three get counted? Suppose a qb misses a 30 yard post but completes a 3 yard pass on third and two? Is that a wide open miss?

See? the tape PROVES jimmy garoppolo is responsible for world hunger.

If McDaniel stays will they have a duel to the death for running game coordinator rights?

I like the hire - hopefully, he takes Trey under his wing.
Good hire.

Lynn is the AHC, not the OC.

I know that but maybe you missed the part where he's going to be in charge of our running game and That's what Mike McDaniel was if you didn't know that already

And how much of an OC really is McD? Sure he helps Kyle but…

And titles mean nothing. He could do a little OC and a little VP duties.

I still think this points to a hire in Miami is coming. But again it just feels like that. Don't slam me if he doesn't.

I believe he helps create a lot of the run plays. Don't sleep on him there's a reason why Kyle had him everywhere he went. It's a good thing we have Kyle though.

Exactly, now the question is will we get 2 more Third round picks if Lynn eventually gets a head coaching job (even if he's had the position prior)?
