There is only so much time in a day and to give him some head coaching duties to free you up to do other things could be huge.

Absolutely correct 💯💯💯💯
There is so much to love about this hire! Run game guru. Experience as HC and OC. Oh and there is that little thing he did turning Herbert into a friggen beast. I'm not at all backing off the statement this is an upgrade as unpopular as the opinion might be.
What's the purpose of this hiring exactly? You help with game planning? Could this mean that Kyle finally realised that he needed a little help 🤔. Seems like a good hiring either way. 9ers already making moves.

i can count on the number of times in 1 hand in the past 3-4 years where we have been outcoached

How many super bowls has that lead to?
I think the addition will provide another voice for making adjustments, throwing different wrinkles at teams and changing with circumstances. Brady was so good with Belichek because they constantly morphed the offense to take advantage of the opponents weakness

I think some of this has to do with game management too. With Kyle taking on the office play Colin, he needs help with the game management we have all noticed that

and if he can help KS on situational football and clock management… 👌

We don't want Anthony anywhere near a clock. NOT his strong suit. I love this hire but Chargers lost a bunch of tight games the year he got let go largely because of clock mismanagement. But we don't have to worry with that. That's Kyle's job. Besides Kyle hasn't had issues with clock management it has been more game management getting ultra conservative. Hopefully that won't be an issue with Lance.

It's not about being outcoached or not. It's about having someone else to assist and take some of the workload off his plate. Fwiw. I think he was outcoached a number of times this past season and I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have another experience football mind by your side either.

Well if we read the tea leaves a bit... We're bringing in Pep Hamilton. He was the QB coach for the Texans and is likely to be looking for work after they hire their next coach. He was the qb coach who made herbert the ROY

Pep would be interesting as OC. I wasn't a huge fan of him when he was OC in Indy but if he's not calling the plays and just helping design gameplans and working with the QB's, assisting Kyle, Lynn and Scangarello, he'd be a very valuable addition.

My question about Hamilton is, was he a product of the players he had to coach, or did he make a big contribution to those players?

Like you, I didn't see much to admire with him in Indy. I'm not sold out on Scangarello either. The main line on his resume is he taught Nick Mullins how to fasten his chin strap. So, Pep might add something to the package but do we need two QB coaches?

Good find.
Love this hire. Solid contributor while he's here and worth some picks if/when he gets another HC opportunity.

For 49ers fans the minimum is 5.

Lynn was fired as HC largely because his game management was so bad. That's the area he needs to improve upon most.

People are making it too complicated. Lynn is a great culture guy. Players love him. He works hard and can scheme up one heck of a rushing attack.

He played in Mike's original version of this offense and thus understands the blocking scheme as well as being able to add some variety to the offense. He has experience in Greg Roman's offense and how to utilize a mobile quarterback to create a ferocious ground attack. Combine that with Kyle's knowledge and you should see an ever more effective run game next season.

I don't think it's a coincidence that both Herbert and Davis Mills looked as good as they did early on with Pep as their QB coach. He has a long history of working with QBs so having one more voice in the building with that kind of experience and someone that can also assist with gameplanning as well.

If he came to the 49ers and Lance comes out on fire next season, he'd put himself up there as an in demand HC candidate as well.
