Foerster was also an OC in the NFL previously so he should be fine in a role where he won't be asked to call any plays but handle a lot of the run game stuff along with Lynn.

I love researching coaching staffs around the league in both college and the pros. It helps familiarize me with a lot of the assistant coaches out there, like the up and comers. The one constant I've learned about is on most teams the offensive line coach is the defacto running game coordinator even if it's not in his title. Since Forester was here the last few years coaching all the blocking assignments in the game plans, he has a good understanding of the running schemes we've been running so the bump in title makes sense. With that said I have no doubt Lynn wasn't just brought here to coach running backs, he'll be involved in the game planning as well.

I believe that too...the Turner year off probably put a kink in the original plan but this may turn out to be a positive because now he can learn Kyle's current scheme (which is diverse and is about to get more with Trey) and then when Bobby returns next year, we can have two coordinators in Foerster and Lynn.

Cregg was major help from Lynn. He was his Oline coach w/ the Chargers.

There is a possibility Turner doesn't come back. I mean there is nothing stopping him from really enjoying his temporary retirement so much that he decides to go on a permanent vacation.

That's a very real possibility. Agreed.

From when Kyle was in Washington :

Kyle Shanahan is the offensive coordinator, but he's hardly the only one with input into the Redskins' game plan. In fact, it's a staff effort that begins each Monday and doesn't end until Saturday.

Not that it always was a group effort for Shanahan when he became a coordinator with Houston.

"When I was younger I tried to do everything," he said. "You're so excited to have the opportunity to be a coordinator that you want to work at every single area as hard as you can. But you start to go crazy because there aren't enough hours in the week. So I've gotten better at divvying up stuff and allowing others to help me….Just getting to know them, you start to trust them more and they start to know what I like. It becomes more efficient when you work with the same people."

So every Monday, here's what each offensive coach works on: Receivers coach Ike Hilliard does first and second downs, three-receiver formations and the two-minute area. Quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur does third downs and all the empty, no-back sets. Tight ends coach Sean McVay does the red zone as well as their U personnel (two tight end sets; one receiver, two backs). McVay also gets started on first and second down Tiger sets (two tight ends, two receivers). Running backs coach Bobby Turner does short yardage and goal-line situations. Assistant offensive line coach Chris Morgan handles all the protections; he gets every blitz the opponent ran and draws them up and focuses on potential protection issues that week. Quality control coaches Mike McDaniel and Richmond Flowers start breaking down the overall team stuff and enter it in the computer so the coaches can have the stats and percentages. Shanahan and line coach Chris Foerster watch film by themselves.

Likelihood is he probably is still doing something similar here wrt game planning each week.

I agree Lynn will be involved in game planning.

Great Find! I agree. I can see the same division of labor but with Anthony Lynn, Brian Griese and the rest. I can see them testing out the delegations by re-running a simulation coaching week of last years playoff games and also re-evaluating the current players for free agency and draft purposes. Just like the defensive coaching staff, I think the offensive personnell - overall - is potentially much stronger than before.

A little late to the party with this one but I still wanted to talk about the Hirings of Brian Schneider and Griese. I really do like the Schneider hire. His Special Teams have consistently been very solid in Seattle and most recently in 2020 his ST well outperformed ours led by Hightower.

Griese is an unknown but its more of a trust Kyle and John and that they have been able to recognize and identify talent at various coaching positions.

Check out the video and always appreciate any support!

No Defensive Run Game Specialist though with Bettcher gone.

Foerster is the new run game coordinator? Not expecting much innovation from him.

Pretty much what I anticipated. A coach-up staff and Lynn being a position coach and AHC like Embree. But that's quite a fall from HC. He was never going to be a coordinator AND position coach, IMHO.

I didn't see Foerster becoming the run game coordinator though but it makes sense in Kyle's 'current' run scheme today.

It is a fall from being a HC, but Lynn IMO never got to establish himself as a top flight OC before becoming a head coach. I'd say he's a stronger HC or RB coach candidate because of his resume.

Theres some element of truth in that. I'll say this though. 2016 is pretty much his only season calling plays all year and the bills had the leagues top rushing attack that year.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Kyle, Lynn, and Foerster build out the running scheme this year and the weekly game plans. I'm sure Lynn will have input as well given he'll be on the ground level with the personnel and can alert them to what they can and can't do from a talent perspective.

Lynn a coach from a running back background, and also having the big picture perspective as an HC and having play calling experience, I think - to a certain extent - Kyle can leave a lot of the game planning and run game and OLine design to Lynn and Foerster. Now he can really focus on grooming Trey and developing that passing game. He'll be coaching up both Trey and Brian in 2022.

This is going to create a bigger hole on the coaching staff in 2022 season than losing McDaniel.

Maybe, Maybe not, we'll have to wait and see, maybe Bobby will give his input from afar, while he recovers, like consulting for the 49ers.
