Offseason strategy - how would you play it?

Please just clean house with everyone who obviously can't stay healthy. Verrett, Ford, Mostert. Kinlaw too, if he isn't a full go at OTCs. That should be priority #1. Much rather have players who are available than those who may be good.

Get Brady and keep sitting lance until Brady declines or reretires.

Sign bosa and deebo.

Sadly we will probably lose some backup dlinemen because they will want some more cash.

Maybe trade Warner to free up the cash and recoup draft picks. He's good but the drop to al shaeer and greenlaw isn't that much. The cash is worth more.

Everything else will fall into place.

It was good at first with sign Bosa and Deebo. Then I read the words "trade Warner".

You owe me a new monitor.

You probably won't ever get everything you want. If a star player has to go I would rather it be warner than kittle, or auiyuk or deebo.

Linebacker is pretty much the only position we constantly have hit on in the draft from Warner, Borland, Bowman, Willis. If one position has to walk then let the one go that we actually decently draft.

The drop off is not that much to greenlaw or al shaierr either. Compared to the other positions and you gain both picks from trading Warner and money.

I think we have to give Verrett, Mostert and Kinlaw a chance to comeback from their injuries. I think we should jettison Ford.
There was an article today on waiting to see which top tier QBs move from their teams : Rodgers, Wilson, and Watson. The thought was Watson would be an ideal pick up for us. I didn't see if we just had to give Jimmy and picks or Lance, but if he's cleared I would make that trade.

Trey is our Watson without the baggage.
Improve our secondary with a splash free agent if there is one

Agree, and by hook or crook, get a first round pick for the Jimmy G. trade.
The acquisition of Brady covers the short comings this team has. He upgrades the entire roster. If by some miracle he is available go all in, unless you want to wait a few years and groom Lance. That is providing he is elite. The question becomes are you in for Now or a dream of tomorrow. The great franchises find the balance and know how to grade talent.

Totally agree with this. What value is talent if it's sitting on the bench.

And when acquiring or drafting players, health and injuries have to be looked at very carefully before you even go after them or draft them. If there is one thing that has hurt Kyle's teams in the past, it's injuries when they enter the playoffs. Whether it be Richburg in 2019 or Trent Williams in 2021. Those have hurt our chances for getting the Lombardi twice now in the last 3 years.

Those sexual assault cases don't seem to be going away. And apparently the Texans want the earth for him, even with 23 court cases hanging over his head. I don't really think the city of San Francisco is the home for this guy. Plus his $160 million contract through 2025 means that the rest of the team would have to pay. I don't think that the team are pursuing a strategy of hollowing out the rest of the team in order to afford one player. I would not make a trade for any of the top tier qb's, and that includes bringing back Brady.

Agree. I think a veteran guy like Tyrod Taylor (or any veteran QB that has good arm and good mobility) that can give this team a chance to win if Trey is out for a game or two, will be fine. If your starting QB is out for the year, obviously that year is shot, and you just game plan on tanking for a pass rusher at that point in time for the season.

No need to bring in Brady, he's retired. I think that decision is pretty final. At his age, it will be harder and harder each year to unretire. And the 49ers don't need him when there are other options out there. (a *very* remote option - but still an option - is just simply retaining Jimmy for 2022 and then F-tagging him in 2023 before trading him in 2023)

I don't think Deshaun is the guy I'd get if I want a culture of winning and solid moral character. I think he will send a wrong cultural message to the team and damage the team more than he helps the team.

Brady just delays the inevitable. How much longer would he play? Eventually you need to go to a younger player.
I'm at a point where I say f**k it. Do what the Lambs did. Go after Brady or Rodgers, don't care if Lance's feelings are hurt it'll only fuel him (see Favre/Rodgers, Montana/Young). Massive upgrade at OL and DB's and find a stud pass rusher opposite Bosa. How to pay for it? Idk, seems like the Lambs and every other team can figure it out with team friendly deals for a chance at a title.

I look at the opportunity we had to sign Brady before he went to Tampa and I'm sure it was a case of "we're gonna be loyal to our guy" but we just end up looking foolish for not. Hell, even if we did NONE of the other things, get Brady or Rodgers and we probably have enough to win with just that
