Those sexual assault cases don't seem to be going away. And apparently the Texans want the earth for him, even with 23 court cases hanging over his head. I don't really think the city of San Francisco is the home for this guy. Plus his $160 million contract through 2025 means that the rest of the team would have to pay. I don't think that the team are pursuing a strategy of hollowing out the rest of the team in order to afford one player. I would not make a trade for any of the top tier qb's, and that includes bringing back Brady.
You Nailed it!
I think Watson was close to being a 9er until all those cases came up and that's where the trade up for Lance happened

Trade Lance for Brady or Rodgers plus picks. Pause. Brady or Rodgers announce their retirement!

Then McVay calls it quits and Rams hire Ryans.

just my opinion but the Niners will not resign Laken. They want to, but they cannnot commit that much cap space to OL, especially with Bosa and Deebo needing contracts.
'
DJ Jones I love him, but he might test the market.
I seriously think the Niners might try to trade Arik Armstead or Dre Greenlaw. One costs too much the other will cost too much.

I'd agree with all this. If money becomes an issue, Tomlinson is just okay. He's replaceable imo. I LOVE Jones and think we need to lock him up. But I'd trade both Armstead and Greenlaw for the right price, no question. Linebackers are a dime a dozen imo

This whole '2 good seasons and reset the market' for some players is getting unsustainable.
That's what they had in mind for Defo , and Kinlaw was his cheap replacement hoping to develop him with little to no drop off, hopefully he can become that. Same for JG and Lance, they saw they had to upgrade at QB to keep from going completely insane in the membrane.

Brady would be a bargain QB,he has never been one looking to clean out Fort Knox, especially now since he only wants to play a year, and the only team is SF, it would be a very favorable deal for the team.
I agree about the other's though, they would cripple the team in all areas having to pay their over inflated salaries.

We need a very very good cb not a draft pick at cb. Plain and simple. I don't know about anyone else but I'm sick and tired of losing Super Bowls and championship games because we don't have good corners. Enough with this potential and he plays well most of the time crap. It's unbelievable how some fans can be complacent with such an important position yet want to upgrade on quarterback so bad. Well guess what, we need to upgrade at corner no matter what if we want to stay competitive against great quarterbacks an even better receivers.
I'll take Gillmore or even Casey Hayward just get one of them. People that want to point to pass rush, well that's all fine and dandy but what if in these crucial games the referees do not call holding on offense? We will be screwed just like in the Super Bowl against the Chiefs. So we can't rely on the refs we all know that so now we have to rely on better coverage. It's bad enough our safeties and corners (for the most part) can't make a game changing play to save their lives.

Corners are fine Thomas year 2 will be a strong starter Moseley is a good corner. Need an addition but don't need to break the bank so to speak. Lenoir I'm interesting in Hufanga for safety with Ward we have lots of great potential. Three key rooks this past year you best believe they will develop.

Yeah, I'd be confident going into the season with Thomas and Moseley. Maybe a late round corner as a backup. Concerned about the safeties, Hunfanga and Ward are our starters, but we need backups.

"Fine" is good for playoffs not a SB win. You do realize we are going against wrs like ALL PRO wrs like Hopkins Kupp Lockette and DK and that's just our division!!! In the SB we will face either Diggs, Tyrek Hill, or Chase and Higgins.
No way in hell we win with the corners we have. I hope our front office realizes this bc solid play isn't good enough against qbs like Mahomes or Allen or even Rogers or Stafford to get to the SB.

I understand that all those cases are not criminal cases and 19/23 had deals made.

With Dante Fowler Jr. being cut by the Falcons prior to free agency, the Niners should act quickly and get him signed up. Fowler's a proven commodity with a history of performing better when he has a better supporting cast. Getting him early would eliminate the need to use a draft pick on an edge rusher early. This offseason is already getting real interesting.

The main reason to play cover 3 is so that you don't need to over pay or over reach at the CB position. Unless you have a Deon Sanders, you will always be over paying for a player at position that will give up big plays. Look at Ramsey. The position is just impossible to play in this era, so why commit the draft pick or money. Stick with the taller "slower" CBs that you can get later in the draft.
Our most important need on defense are the Safety positions since we are set solid on our front 7.
Our second biggest need is to score more points. Be a team that scores 30/game. That will take care of our defense. Get that OL and one WR that can break a TD from anywhere on the field.
