I think the plan is to work him in at RG next year, and move Burford to right tackle.

This is what I've been saying as well Poe may be close to Banks but not close enough imo. Has to learn the system a little more but either way we got 2 good options at guard at least.

Agree 💯% El Jimmy! They definitely are trying him at guard and I think he has a shot at the 53. That frees up Brunskill to back up Right Tackle, Right Guard, and Center. Assuming McKivitz is being slotted for Right Tackle while McGlinchey is out.

El Jimmy that was a good one Giedi I'm so glad they are working Poe into first team reps with Banks. He probably won't win but at least we have a valuable back up guard. This way maybe we can try Brunskill at right tackle when MM is out. We know he performed much better as a Tackle than a center or a guard. I'm just a little worried that Poe will not be on our practice squad very long

I share the same worry about Poe. I think he has to make the 53 otherwise he's going to be on someone else's 53. Either Green Bays, Vikings or the Texans. I think there are several players we will lose if we put them on the Practice Squad, Purdy, Mason, Hasty among them. It's a talented team, and the NFL really penalizes talented teams that way. This Tuesday and next Tuesday are going to be nailbiters for me, personally.

I believe his screen name is dedicated to Carlos Hyde, correct me if im wrong. He went by El Guapo on social media.

I think though that Poe will 100% make the roster. The question will be when he will start. I think Banks will get the nod even if they think Poe is better because the value knowledge of the system more than raw talent. But injuries are unavoidable when it comes to this team and he will get his shot at some point. I just dont see many other lineman our team beating him out for a spot. Burford and Poe are going to be on our line for a long time! They exude everything that Shanahan wants in OGs. Quick and fast, with enough strength to hold their ground. They both look so natural passing off rushers too, like its second nature to them.
Jason Poe and Jordan Mason are two undrafted free agents that MUST make the final 53 to eliminate the possibility of being snatched off the practice squad. BOTh have Pro Bowl potential. MASON runs very much like Marshawn Lynch and is the best RB on the team by far...POE and BURFORD are our star guards of the future.

What has banks done to solidify his role? He loses in one on one's, plays okay in preseason. And didn't dress last year

in the first preseason game against packers he gave up 0 pressures nd gave up 2 pressures in last game both games combined he had over 60 snaps

also 1 of pressures he gave up was on a stunt which having Trent williams will help and they tried the same stunt a few plays later and he picked it up
Ok i have to admit I laughed at all of the Poe love when they signed him as an UDFA. But I have become a fan of his, and strongly believe not only will he make the final 53, I also think he will start at LG. Trent Williams has taken a liking to Burford and Poe, they have also listened to the great one. From what I have seen, I would love for Aaron Banks and Trey Sermon to step up, but this is about playing the best players that fit the system. If Poe and UDFA's Elijah Mitchell, Wilson and Hasty are the top 3 RB's, so be it. If poe is better than Banks, so be it.
I would like to see Poe with the 1's and see how well he does in pp before I am ready to claim he is starter material. He is a very good run blocker but pp is just as important if we want to go anywhere this season.

UDFA is only a current status. You can't completely define another guy in his 2nd yr by that.

They could both be 2 future Pro Bowlers for all we know.

Banks has taken every practice snap at left guard all offseason, has started both preseason games, and has been called the starter by the GM. He's also allowed 2 pressure and 0 Sacks on 50+ snaps. He is fine.

I don't know if he's fine but I know preseason will not cost him the starting job when he hasn't played next to Trent Williams.

I've seen some fans act like Laken Tomlinson was Larry Allen in his prime. He was consistent, he never missed time but you think playing most of his games with Trent Williams or Joe Staley playing next to you in a great scheme like Kyle's that it doesnt help?

I get it everyone loves the under dog. But Poe has been playing against future car salesmen and grocery baggers.

Nah if Burford was looked at as a RT he'd be getting OT reps. He hasn't gotten one. He's out RG moving forward. The RT of the future isn't on the roster right now imo.

Poe should be getting reps at center as well.

I don't think either will get claimed. Every team has a mason type RB that fans think another team will pickup (and doesn't). Poe whom I like a lot could very well make the roster as a backup IOL, I could also see him getting cut and tossed on the PS.

The problem is that Shany has never really committed to competition at RT over the years. Why? McWiff is not a perennial starter by any stretch and yet there has been very little push to, at a minimum provide a viable backup/potential starter.

Are we still trying to justify McWiffs 1st rounder selection?

So now he is hurt, with potential lingering issues. That position should have been a wide open competition starting day 1 in camp.

How about this one GENUS49. Can I get a star rating, a like maybe. Thumbs up?
