Let's hope he gets a chance. I mean s**t kyle always lets his pet projects that suck stay on the team. At least poe showed potential. But wouldn't be surprised if kyle squandered this and poe goes and dominates for years on another team

Personally, I think the OLine coach didn't really prepare the OLine for the Texas DLine shooting the gaps, and that resulted in a lot of OLine miscues today. Yes the 49er OLinemen didn't really play well, also -- but I think the OLine coaches (and that includes Kyle) didn't coach and adjust well against the Texan's DLine coaches today in my opinion.

There isn't any "adjustments" or preparing in preseason. It's just go 1-1 and beat your matchup in front of you and it's constantly our oline getting beat by the guy in front of them

I think the Offensive Line did decently against both Green Bay and the Vikings, and one reason I think is because there was some sort of agreement about how they will play each other. Now, I have no evidence of that, but it's just a suspicion. This game, the Offensive Line didn't adjust, in my opinion, to what the Texans were doing against the 49er outside zone run. Two reasons, I think Kyle and the coaching staff is preparing the team more for the Bears than for the Texans, and as you said - there really isn't any adjustments or preparations for a preseason game - the coaches are looking for other things than winning the game.
Looked like Poe missed a block yesterday. Cut his ass.

The San Francisco Bay sludge shrimp, Poe Boy. Just watch out for the food poisoning lol

So Poe Boy it is!

Trent Williams like him so I say he stays!

We can use him as a weapon perhaps or at least nab him on the practice squad
I really like his tenacity

He's worth keeping and coaching up

I'll bet my first born that Kyle schemes him into some "TE eligible" touchdown passes with 6 o line men on the field. Dude is too big, too fast, and has hands. It'll be awesome. I also expect him to sub into red zone plays to play fullback or even take it into the house

I agree. IF he's not starting I could see a lot of potential gimmicks in goal line or short yardage. As a TE or FB

I saw the number he is wearing and got chills (sort of)‼️‼️‼️ #62 same as Guy McIntyre‼️‼️‼️

Guy was my favorite OLineman on goal line situations! I know the linebackers widened their eyes when Guy McIntyre came on the field on 3rd or 4th down.

I don't see this guy starting initially. One of the guards would have to suck. His rookie year he is going to be used in special packages & maybe special teams. I could see his whole rookie he develops and learns center - then next year our o line will be insane with
Williams-banks-poe-burford-mcG. that's a really good lineup if the thing guys develops and Williams gives us 3 more seasons

Id love if they had him learning that position. Let the talent find their best spot on the O-line. It also gives is flexibility down the road.
I don't know why they're not trying him at Center, I think he'd be an ideal fit there.

IF he doesn't start this year, then it'll be a great idea to start the training at the OC position..

We've always turned a very good OG and turned him into a starting OC.

Kyle wants someone with experience at C. C is the one calling blocking and protection scheme. This, I doubt we will try Poe at center any time soon.

That is why Kyle had Brendel and Brunskill compete at C at training camp rather than any of the young Guards such as Banks, Burford, and Poe.

I think Shanny is hoping that Dohnovan West will spend the year on the practice squad and come back next year ready to compete for starting center spot.

He also likes vet centers. He's far more likely to spend money in FA on a center than a RT.

No idea why this curiosity keeps being repeated, but it's not exactly like he was a 4 year starter @ Center with plenty of experience. They're probably trying to get him on the field and get some experience:

Guard also often finds an influx of players from the center position. Centers are essentially the quarterbacks of the offensive line and are often tasked with making line calls, handling the silent count and the added mental demand on them makes it rare for rookies to be able to handle it seamlessly right away. To adjust for that teams often give rookie centers their first playing experience at guard – giving them the chance to settle in the league and learn the offense before they are given control of things at center.

Due to the nature of offensive line play, a rookie is either starting or he isn't...
