I saw video of him standing with the rbs, and he was shorter than Sermon. Doesn't matter if you're playing center though.

WHY draft the guy if the size is a concern?

They didn't draft him.

Helps the QB field vision. Easy to see over his head.
Would love to see Poe make major strides, but I think expectations fell quite a bit after pre-season last year. I was really hoping the adjustment wouldn't be too big for him, but..

Despite looking like a beast, manhandling people at the FCS level, he seemed to struggle consistently being able to generate push in the pre-season. He also had a lot of trouble sustaining blocks in both the run and pass game and wound up on the ground more than any of the other guys around him. Overall, just looked inferior in terms of power at the NFL level.

It's no surprise he didn't make the team. He needed a massive amount of improvement in his strength, footwork, and handwork. Basically everything lol. More or less, he came in as a good athlete with workout strength, but poor functional strength and an abundance of technical flaws.

For those who want to recall how Poe looked:

I think your post is completely fair.

If we're talking about his run blocking potential, I think his arrow is down ATM. He's going to struggle against certain types of DT's with getting some push.

But I thought his pass blocking looked pretty good.

He has to improve a lot if he wants to make the team this year.

Agree. Time will tell if he's made the adjustments we've likely asked of him. For a comparison, Nick Zakelj (#63) was at RG in that cut-up above, and you can clearly see the difference.

Kudos to all comments.

I also wanted Poe to succeed.

back to the drawing board I guess.

I mean, it sounds like they felt like he has all the raw ability based on us being worried he wouldn't clear waivers. They guy reportedly really loves football, so you hope he'd utilize whatever resources we had to improve himself going into this year.

Man the guys we got and the guys still developing are getting me so hyped I don't know how I'm gonna handle 3 more months of no football.

I'm pulling for Poe, he's one of my underdog favorites. Hopefully just from the mental side of things, he is now familiar with the offense and the plays and hopefully - from a mental perspective - he'll play faster versus thinking out there. A lot of times, a player will look like he got dominated, but really it was because he was just a fraction of a second slow on his get off that he got in that position. We shall see.

A year of nfl practices and training can do wonders, especially making sure his body is built right and technique improves. Players tend to make their biggest jump from yesr 1-2, so if he really loves football, anticipate a large improvement. Hopefully it's enough

Fair point, it's possible. I'm excited to see the growth among a number of guys, especially on our OL. We need improvement from them with the turnover at RT and to an extent RG with Brunskill no longer here.
