Our QB play has improved tremendously since griese came here. It even did with JG10. I think it's confirmed griese is a BIG reason that purdy has been so good. Absolutely need to keep him here.

Purdy has a other great year next season and he'll be hired as an OC somewhere.

I highly doubt he'd take an OC job given that he considered walking away last offseason due to the commitments of being a QB coach.

With all of the coaching vacancies and Kyle's apparent takeover of the league via his coaching tree, this guy is the one I'm most nervous about losing.

Agree, with you. I don't want to lose Brian. But I'm sure Kyle's aware of how important Brian is to Brock and will prioritize him and make it really hard for anybody to take him. Still, I'm confident that Kyle can find a good coach for Brock. One option is having Brock's offseason QB coach be on Kyle's staff. My understanding is that Will Hewett was key to Brock's development pre-draft. Second option is getting Steve Young to coach Brock.

Dude was doing the bare minimum at ESPN because of his other obligations. You think he wants to coach full time for a crap salary?

If Griese were to leave then I think we'd see another Scangarello or Shane Day. Just a guy.

Right? Why are people ignoring that he literally almost quit last offseason to go back to his family? There's a chance he goes back to the booth and returns to his family after the 49ers win the SB. Either way, Griese will go down as a legend for helping find Brock in the draft and then coaching him up.

He(Brian Griese) signed a two-year contract to join coach Kyle Shanahan's staff but had to sort out with his family whether to remain in coaching. His family remained in Denver during the season. He has a daughter who will be entering her senior year and an eighth-grade son.

"As much as he loved it, it's tough being away from them," 49ers general manager John Lynch said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine. "But they're well set up in Denver. He had to go weigh all of that.

"He had us nervous because you can't fight that. You can't say, 'Ah, no, that's not a big deal.' We understand that, so he went through that process."

I don't think anybody knows what Steve will do, if they don't ask him. There is also Jeff Garcia and Drew Breese (as examples) of other players who can develop into being a coach under Kyle - *if they want to* become a coach. Point being, I think Kyle has the coaching gravitas to attract top of the line QB coaches to his staff considering he's done very well with the offensive staff he's developed or has been connected with. If any coach has any ambition to be in the NFL or be a top level coach in the NFL - they can't go wrong by being on Kyle's staff.

As a side note, Steve Young, and Manning *love* Kyle's offense. For what it's worth.

I *do not* wanna see Brian go. I don't think Steve would be interested. I don't see Brees or Garcia either, though Garcia, I see being more of a possibility than the others. Damn Brees would be awesome though, haha one can dream.

Neither do I. But the way teams *constantly* poach coaches from Kyle's squad, you have to simply *assume it* even if it's a low probability. Better to be prepared than caught with the trousers down, so to speak. Now if they *don't* poach Griese then you're stronger because you have a list of coaches you can monitor or develop outside of the team for the future. (Example - the minority coaching fellowship)

Didn't garcia lobby to get a coaching job with Kyle at some point?

He let it be known on Twitter that he was interested in a HC and QBC job I believe
Griese is definitely at a pace to rise up the coaching ladder if that's what he wants. Another potential HC in the kyle tree.

Kind of concerned about that.

he has been elite with Purdy.

Griese ain't ready to be a HC.. he can be an OC but that's also different from being a QB coach..

if he does leave, I have ex-49er QB and draftee in mind... KEN DORSEY
