Sad given we've had 3-4 of the best college returners and they all massively regressed here or were never used.

I say it's the pareto principle. In a sense you just throw numbers at the position until someone sticks.
They have been using WR's for the punt returner positions, I say why not get a high day two Cornerback/DB pick for a returner? Hit two birds with one stone. 1) bolster the defensive back depth and 2) bolster the special teams depth.

One of the main things I'm going to be looking for this season is improvement in special teams. Schneider had five or six years where his special teams units ranked in the Top 5 in the NFL during his tenure with the Seahawks, hopefully his coaching and the upgrade in talent will lead to a much performance.
Watching Brian Schneider lead the 49ers through a special teams session. He runs a tight ship. Clear that he's on top of details. There's a reason those who have worked with him and played for him all seem to give strong endorsements.
