Doesn't matter how good we are on offense or defense, no matter how far we go, ST WILL cost us eventually. No way we can win a championship with this unit.
Is he fired yet?

Saw this thread bumped and was hoping for just that. Hopefully, one of these days he'll be gone.
This unit is so bad. I understand changing a coach now isn't likely to lead to any miracles, but if we are somehow going to make the playoffs its safe to say this unit needs to step up massively.
Will he ever step to the podium forgoing tradition?
This guy got a donkey dick size leash
If the ST could be just below average, we have at least one more win. The worst thing is, Im not sure its the ST coaches. The coach before Schneider was almost just as bad. I think it's an organizational/prioritization problem of the ST as a whole

To me this is the worst special teams year I've witnessed. They've lost at least 2 games because of it. And yesterday they somehow won despite it, should have been a 15+ point game if special teams was just even with Tampa

Almost every game we lost had special teams issues that cost points. and almost every game this season we had a ST mistake

Vikings punt blocked turned into 3 points

Rams missed a 55 yard fg then gave short field to Rams who then scored a TD then a 3 andout and allowed big punt return to put them in scoring position for the game winning fg

Patriots we fumbled the kick off at the start at the second half to allow a td. still won this game

Cardinals we actually had no ST mistakes and scored a TD off a FG block but lost due to other fumbles and INTs

Seahawks Allowed a kick off return for a td, Still won this game too

Chiefs missed an extra point and a 2 point conversion

Bucs 3 missed FGs

So in 9 games 3 had no ST errors.
Why do our players keep f'ing up on special teams. Get the hell out of the way and don't let the other team push you into our return guy, even though it isn't legal they are letting them get away with it. So then stay the fuk back and allow room for our return guy. Sick and tired of special teams screwing up.
So i heard on the Locked on Niners podcast that the kid we just brought in, McCloud, is a ST ace?
Usually players brought in mid season after being waived don't make much difference especially a special teams /CB. Still points to coaching.

You missed the fake Punt we allowed in the Rams game.

cards game right after we got the block we gave up a big kick return that resulted in moody's injury which f**ked us as they lost points in 2nd half because they couldn't kick FG.
Schneider was a very good special teams coach at Seattle. Their unit was often ranked in the top 5 or better. So what happened? The players changed. It appears the Niners don't have that great gunner they used to have. They haven't got a great pint returner and their units seem unsettled. Since this coach was consistently ranked high at Seattle I have to think it's more the personnel than the coach. Some of their good special teams players of the past have moved on to other teams.

If punt returners and gunners were the sum of our issues on special teams I'd agree. They aren't, so I don't.

Giving up fake punts, getting punts blocked, and players routinely breaking lane integrity aren't talent issues.
