2022 is not the year for the 49ers to go all-in on winning the super bowl

The 49ers do not have any other option than to play the cards they have been dealt this year. They have neither the cap room nor draft capital to make any splash moves again this year. Remember the big splash move they made last year?

So you're saying with Garoppolo's salary off the books, there's no room to sign outside FAs?

Tomorrow has no future...SB or BUST
As the great philosopher Kyle Shanahan once said, "I can't guarantee that anybody in the world will be alive Sunday,"
F**K IT. DO OR DIE!

This "not ready" stuff is irrelevant. As a rookie, yeah but we have jimmy. Trey has a year of nfl experience, he just needs live reps.
And what if he plays like a rookie and doesn't set the league on fire? Do you really want to mortgage your future for this season where the QB may be holding us back? Will the 49ers try and win the SB in 2022? Sure, but that doesn't mean they damage future seasons to try and get it.
That's a risk you have to take. You won't win s**t in this league if you play it safe. We're a set team. We don't really have to mortgage the future.

I agree that 2023 or '24 would be the year to go all in with a more experienced Trey. The thing is though is that the niners never do that. When we should have gotten Revis and went all in back then, we didn't. It's always about "building through the draft," "not overpaying guys," or the brass lying to themselves about our window lasting forever.
Long story short, the niners will never go all in with Paraag leading the show with his moneyball strategy.

If go all in means trading away draft picks and signing expensive FAs then yeah I wouldn't do that. But I do think we should expect to compete for a championship for the next 3 years or so assuming Lance isnt complete garbage.

Wrong. They have too many good/elite players in their prime. Trent, Mack, Juszczyk, Deebo, Kittle, Bosa, Ford, Armstead?, Warner, Ward are ready to win now. They can be better this year with the right moves in free agency and the draft, and the goal is always to win the division. They've shown that they're "all in" by signing Trent Williams to a monster deal, so I don't understand why you think they'll take a year off, or whatever.

Lots of comments about what it means to mortgage your future. It means huge signing bonuses, and lots of back loaded money. 5 years out, you can't afford to have a good team because you have a lot of dead money on the books. This strategy is effective at having a very good team for a couple of years, but in the end, the team falls apart.

I've way against going "All-In" like the Rams did, but you always want to win the SB every year, and like others have said, we have the players, Mitchell, Juice, Deebo, Aiyuk, Jennings, Kittle, Trent, Mack, Bosa, Armstead, Ebukam, Kinlaw, Givens, Warner, Al-Shaair, Dre, Ambry, Moseley, Lenoir, Ward, Hufanga, Gould, if Trey shows something, we're gonna be a very good team.
As for signing big name FAs, I agree, I don't like overpaying, but if they end up losing D.J. Jones and/or Laken Tomlinson, or K'Waun, Tartt, Key, Willis, they HAVE to sign some FAs, younger guys, like James Daniels or Alex Cappa at RG, move Banks too LG, go after a CB like a Levi Wallace or Charvarius Ward, or Bryce Callahan to replace K'Waun. Dante Fowler to replace Key, etc....
I know this will make NC very very happy.

Don't have to - just start Lance, grab JC Jackson and an EDGE or S in the 2nd round and a G in the 3rd and we have a great shot at winning the Super Bowl.

I agree we want to sign many of our existing players, and grab some mid tier free agents. We should avoid 100 million corner backs.

The 49ers MO is to sign/reward their own free agents first. We shouldn't expect any big splashes, but as I understand it... after that, we could probably sign low/mid-tier one-year, two-year deals for a couple players.

You're forgetting some very good players, young wise, that have shown up, Aiyuk, Mitchell, Jennings, Dre, Al-Shaair, Givens, Ambry, Moseley, Lenoir, Hufanga, hopefully Trey, Banks, & Sermon get reps, and I want to see what Moore has, same with McKivitz, especially if we lose Laken.
