Imo, Brady knowing JG was gone. Retired to get out of his final year of his contract, in hopes of the Niners signing him. Niners said no, and he went back to TB. Never intended on retiring, wanted to make a one year run with his favorite SB roster team, and ride off into the sunset.
Living in CT, for Brady's entire career, and living around pats fans…Brady not ever putting on a SF jersey just made my day. Worst fan base in sports 🖕 Brady

Retiring doesn't get him out of the last year of his deal. Tampa still owns his rights so nobody can just try to sign Tom, but you can trade for those rights if Tampa is willing to trade them and you can agree on compensation.
Tampa HC Bruce Arians said they negotiations for his rights start at multiple first round picks.

We have a loaded roster. Which will be led by a guy who has played a handful of games his entire career. Zona and LA will eat our lunch next season. We will likely miss the playoffs.

Yea ok. Lance will lead us to the SB this year. He played lights out against Arizona and Houston. That's why Kyle decided to play Jimmy over him with a bum shoulder and thumb.
you're right about our fans.

Lance was hand picked. And it was always always always stated no competition, it was always always stated Jimmy would start. Jimmy starting was always going to be it. Did they lie?
Lance was a hell of a pick.

I think there is a whole lot more to it than Lance bad, injured JG good (or better).
I certainly am in the camp that thinks 2022 isn't going to be some awesome run with Lance at the helm. But, I think the team should still make the playoffs. JG doesn't play defense, and the defense did enough to make the games competitive (outside of one game). Even if Lance just plays the role of game manager, while minimizing TOs, the 49ers should still be in those games next year.

I hope so. The team needs to go heavy in FA and the draft shoring up this defense.

I am right about our fans. No confidence and fragile why the f**k can't trey lead us to a superbowl? What happened last season is irrelevant. He's our starter and jimmy will be gone. I'm rooting for this team to succeed instead of the doom and gloom that everyone seems to be having on this forum.

Outside of OL, that's where I want the focus to be.

Did the niners ever have anything to do with this story? Just a bunch of time wasting rumors. Smells like Cohn.

Your going to be disappointed if you're expecting them to go heavy in FA.
