We got the best cb in free agency i think and a cheap deal only 40M with him this is crazy. We just got better today.

Some don't want to believe this because Ward isn't a popular name like Gilmore... even though he outplayed him in 2021.

Just need to bring back Verrett on a 1 year cheap deal now. Ward and Verrett on the outside with Moseley at Nickle, Thomas and Lenoir as depth, secondary should be almost set.

Nice! That's a good advanced stat to be #1 in. I think he knows he's good. If he plays it right, he will cash in big when he's 28.

Is it incorrect? I watched all the playoff games but didnt watch with an eye on Ward.
How's his knees or back ? Is he bone on bone and able to play more than 35% of snaps. Trying to think when was or who was the last FA stud, non injured player signed by Lynch ?

He's 6 years younger than Gilmore and he outplayed him in 2021. Ward actually outplayed a ton of corners last season, ranking pretty high in most coverage stats. So he's young, physical, good in coverage, and probably the best tackling corner in the league. This is a massive upgrade if he continues to play like he has or if he keeps getting better and better.
Ward is going to be on the team for 2-3 years just like Gilmore and the 49ers are in championship mode now. Could have used a lockdown corner versus a what if. the niners already have too many what ifs going into next season, with aaron banks and kinlaw starting.

This will give the 49ers two solid outside corners, unlike last year where it was E-Man and a prayer. Now with a more balanced outside, Ryans can disguise coverages more and keep the defense guessing. I like the move. With two guys in the top 30 in the league, this should work well.
