He should be 1st team All-Pro for sure

No doubt. Leads the league in pass breakups, sound and sure tackler.

My biggest takeaway from this angle is how 49er fans own away games. That is such a big advantage. 49ers fans are truly the 12th man.

61% were 49ers fans at the game. Arguably the best traveling fanbase right now in football.
amazing how he wasn't drafted

I think it was a lot more than that. I was right behind the Cardinals bench and there were 49ers fans all around me. When the Cardinals had the ball you had really loud "Defense" chants throughout the stadium.
One hell of a FA pick-up by JL/KS.

49ers post game crew had said on tv that it was 70% fanbase for 49ers.
Remember hearing he was a #2 when we signed him. Myself and many were pissed it wasnt JC Jackson

Jesus we were way off.

I fully remember that... I even posted.. WHY WOULD ANYONE SIGN A #2 CB? my opinion was, if you want to sign a starting FA.. especially at the CB position, you gotta consider him a ONE !!

He's been too AWESOME for us !!!

Not gonna lie, Ward was one of my targets in 2022 offseason, I think on his new deal he could net in the $16.5M-$18M a year range, JC Jackson is at $16.5M a year, and he's been better than Jackson.

Understatement. Jackson has been a disaster.

I was disappointed the 49ers didn't get JC Jackson or Stephon Gilmore. I knew Ward was decent after seeing him in the Super Bowl vs the 9ers, but I didn't think he was worth $60 million at the time. But I was pretty happy the 9ers came away in free agency with a CB.

I get my fair share of things wrong, but this is one of the ones I'm happy to say I was right about. I thought he was exactly the type of CB we needed.
I remember seeing his highlights that Mooney had great ball skills---when the ball gets there, he contests it. I believe his signing was after the year where we had to field Josh Norman, and QB's were just throwing up deep passes and routinely getting Pass Interference calls, because our CB's would panic.

My initial thought was "This guy's gonna be a Pro Bowler in our scheme!" because really... all we need from our cornerbacks is for them to hold up long enough in coverage, and contest passes thrown your way. You don't need to win every rep, but that's okay. We have a superlative defensive line. We just need enough.

He's been worth every penny so far.

Great play by Ward. We needed that.
