Yup, still need a top slot CB. That cost us big time in the NFCCG.

I would love DJ Reed.

That was my #1 target because he can play outside, inside and is a kick returner. He's also the #2 rated CB behind only J.C. Jackson and already knows our scheme.

If I'm DJ Reed as soon as we suggest putting him at nickel again I'm hanging up.

Haha. Good one.

I'm serious. This obsession with putting him at nickel is ignoring how good he was playing on the perimeter last year. This team put him at Safety and then when that failed put him at Nickel rather than letting him play outside where he was really f**king good in college. So yeah I'm all for bringing in DJ Reed to play outside and bringing back Williams at nickel.

Well the idea is he plays outside and then in nickel, slides inside and Ambry comes in and continues developing outside as well. Plus kick returner.

Thank you for this…their fans loved them some Ward and thought "$14M" was a bargain. Even that number is inflated currently…I bet it's less then that all said and done

No doubt the devil is in the details. Jackson $16.5. Same thing.

We just gave jimmy's money to charvarious ward. Good signing? Yeah for 10M.

LOL 30M GTD

What are you talking about? You think Ward is getting $27M this yr lol? Jimmy was getting that THIS yr not spread out over 3 seasons.

His contract is on part with what Griffin and William Jackson got last yr.

man people b***h about anything
The chiefs were 30th in sacks and he still played well...hoping we finally have our true no. 1 corner.

Yup, APY is not a real thing… especially when you're looking at a contract posted right after the fact (agent fluffing) if you look at the wording of the "details" it said up to $42M.

look at the GTD cash, that is what matters. Jackson got almost double.

face value Ward got a deal on par with William Jackson and Griffin last yr. Over spending on one DB is dumb imo. Too many teams have a plethora of good WRs and even good DBs get burnt or called for PIs all the damn time.

Also, don't rule out he'll play in the slot a ton. That's where I targeted him originally. But he's grown outside a lot over the past couple years. 995 snaps last year. Misses a few games with injuries.

Charvarius Ward
After a very impressive 2019 campaign, Charvarius Ward was primed to compete for one of the outside corner spots in 2020. Unfortunately, Ward seemed to take a major step back in 2020 as he struggled with penalties and gave up a lot of big plays and was even a liability in certain matchups. Ward did have the hand injury in week 1 of the 2020 season which may have bothered him a bit and I don't want to downplay a player's injury because none of us truly know, but are we using the broken hand as an excuse for continuously getting beat deep and committing countless penalties? Sure, Ward still had his fair share of good stretches in 2020 but the idea of him being a No. 1 or No. 2 corner for K.C. seems like a stretch. At this point he seems more like a 3rd or a 4th corner. It's also important to remember Ward was a UDFA after all and may have already hit his ceiling That's not necessarily a bad thing either. A UDFA turned solid rotational corner will always be considered a win. I'd be scared of relying on Ward once again 2021, though.

Fully agreed.

You also have to figure how much that defense is probably on the field with a fast scoring offense too. Lots of opportunities to develop against some high octane offenses in the AFC.

Ahkello Witherspoon
Donte Jackson

Very young higher profile players to consider"

On the second page of that forum. I'll stick with my own assessment.

how did he do last year ?
I still think we need to get JV back on the cheap. We would have a solid #1 and #2, especially if he can stay healthy.
