For the amount of money he's getting you wanna hear that he is elite.

He is getting paid market value for a solid vet

Richard Sherman had a similar 3 year 40 million deal with us

I would bet he out performs his contract value

I trust this signing. The front office has actually been pretty good with free agents/veteran trades, aside from Dee Ford. This signing does feel like they took themselves out of the Gilmore and JC Jackson races.

Then says: Ramsey (who plays for the Rams) was burnt and picked on by the Rams.

Irony?

Also, most interceptions does not equal good coverage skills. Some of the top INT guys are gamblers, so it can be feast or famine.

My only issue with Ward is the over aggressive hands. I wonder if the same people laughing about the "only 2 PI's all last season" are the same ones that were bit@#ing about him NOT getting called for it against US in the SUPER BOWL. People seem to have short memories, or must not watch much of the actual games.

Case in point Trevon Diggs who led NFl in INTS:
Trevon Diggs: Box score Coverage stats and rank among cornerbacks:
Snaps: 606, Fourth-most
Targets: 93, third-most
Receptions allowed: 53, 10th-most
Yards allowed: 962, the most
Touchdowns allowed: 5, ninth-most
Interceptions: 11, the most
I've Watched some chiefs games highlights. So far I got to say I have come away very impressed with him. By far the Chief's best CB. consistently holds up isolated in man coverage. Even when the WR did make a catch on him, he seemed to have been in tight coverage and played the receiver well. Going to watch some more today but so far he looks the part to me. I think we might have signed a really talented CB.
According to the CBS list of top 100 free agents, Charvarius Ward was the fifth best cb on the market. He fell behind Jackson, Davis, Gilmore, and Darious Willams of the rams. Jackson signed a huge deal and looks like Davis gave the bucs a home town discount. That left Gilmore and Williams who are 31 and 29 respectively. I think the niners decided to go young and get a player with more time to develope in to a high level player. Also, reading his bio he came from humble beginings and would seem to be a great fit with this organization. I like the pick a little more now that i have done a little more research. Ward came in at number 22 on their list.https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2022-nfl-free-agency-tracker-updates-on-where-the-top-100-free-agents-are-signing/

Ward will help alot... could be even dominant if we can get Chandler
I'll reserve judgement until I see how he fits in our system. That's always something I wait for. He's going to have different coaches and different teammates.

Who's Charvarius Moore?

I thought we signed Ward?

There can be only one
I'm glad we got Ward over Gilmore. I feel like Gilmore is a shell of his former self and not as active in the stopping the run.
Eric Crocker said the exact same thing as I did several pages back. Quality player but he doesn't move the needle (on the position group). Great listen. He covers a lot including a positive take on Emmanuel Moseley inside.

I'm not counting out Ambry.

If Ambry continues to develop, this will be a top of the line secondary. Add in a healthy Kinlaw, and a possible DT and/or DE pick in the 2nd round (maybe two of them) if Jimmy is traded, and I like the makings of this defense. Losing DJ is going to hurt, but add in Chavarius and a good rookie DLine pick being developed by Kocurek, and I'm confident this defense won't drop off too far from last years defense.
Dudes one of the best man corners in the game and lined up against teams #1 receivers. He is also one of the games best tackling corners. If we can put him on an island and roll coverage over to the other side we are laughing with our pass rush. He is a better Emmanuel Mosely.

Fantastic signing.
Offseason checklist:

Put draft assets to work, Banks, Kinlaw with clear roles next season... check
Add FA corner... check
Put for sale sign on JG.... check
Round out coaching staff with winners... check
Save $47 mil gtd money, Jones / Tomlinson out of town... check

It is 930 AM day 2 of FA and Lynch is already putting on a master class
