Yeah he's a clear upgrade to what we had last year I just am not holding my breathe we have someone who can remove a #1 receiver from the game plan. But honestly even Ramsey can't do that

There's probably only one team that does, and no my friend, Jaire is not walking through that door.

I'd settle for Verrett.

Do you think Verrett will be able to come back again?
It would be great if he could.

Leg injury for a 30+ CB is hard to say tbh. Not many miles on his legs though. I'd say it would depend on how he looked during a physical. But if we can get JV we should cause when healthy he's still better than anything we have or can sign.

I don't think Verrett will be the same when he was a pro bowler, and the 1 or 2 yrs here where he was great, ACL & any knee injuries will change you, especially when you've been hurt so many times, my Brother tore his ACL(forget which knee) twice, he was never the same, his knee buckled, had to wear a brace cause of it.

Anyway, on Ward, I think he's a big upgrade over Verrett, who I don't think will ever be the same.

If Verrett is healthy he's a much better player than Ward until proven otherwise is all conjecture.

I'm curious how we're going to use Ward against the Rams and Cooper Kupp.
They put Kupp in the Slot a lot, and run a lot of formations to try and isolate him.

I feel like, we couldn't figure out how to deal with Kupp in the NFCCG on third downs.

My guess is CWard will play right CB and will cover whichever WR lines up across from him. Slot CB will be very important when trying to match up against LAR because of how they use Kupp in the slot.

Didn't they bring Jimmie Ward down in the slot a lot vs Kupp?

They did bring Ward down in the slot a lot versus Kupp, not as much this year as the prior years. Remember that game in 2019 at the Rams stadium where Ward absolutely destroyed Kupp. I believe he had two catches for 12 yards or so? I wish we did that more instead of leaving K Williams on him during the playoff game. Ward did get beat twice by Kupp though but is still the best option to cover him imo

Yeah Verrett is better in every single way than Ward even if he is slowed down a little bit by his injuries. He may play like a top 25 corner instead of a top 10 corner which is still better than Ward. I hope we re-sign him for the veteran minimum with some incentives because we are always getting beat in the playoffs by bad corner play as one of the major factors, usually due to injuries or just not good corner play.

I have no faith in Verrett, same with Dee, neither will get and stay healthy, again, IMO, Ward is an upgrade, he's younger, not injury prone, and just getting started, Verrett had maybe 2 good years out of how many since being drafted? So, yes IMO Ward is an upgrade.

Then a bunch of injuries happened. Then Eman played RCB with Ambry at LCB. Assuming EMan was better than the rookie Ambry at that point in the season.

I wonder if it has to do with where Bosa lines up.
When Sherman locked down the LCB spot it made Seattle put their best pass rusher over the RT and that became the new "blind side".
Bosa lines up over the LT most of the time.
I hope he can beat out Josh Norman or Dontae Johnson for a spot on the roster. You simply don't come in and take another man's job.

LOL Cassius Marsh might come back
What impressed Kyle Shanahan about new 49ers CB Charvarius Ward

"He never panics. He's got very quick feet. He stays on top of guys. They put him in some positions that a lot of guys would just back up and play a little timid, and I never saw him change."

I was a fan of this when insiders said SF was in on Ward. Pumped to have him here

Verrett is gravy. We have three quality starting-level outside CBs. Verrett would make it 4.

Our slot CB position is definitely more of a concern.

True. DD played well in the slot right off the street in the last few games. So we may have a drop off in the slot but a MAJOR improvement at outside cb. Net gain
