He's 6 years younger than Gilmore and he outplayed him in 2021. Ward actually outplayed a ton of corners last season, ranking pretty high in most coverage stats. So he's young, physical, good in coverage, and probably the best tackling corner in the league. This is a massive upgrade if he continues to play like he has or if he keeps getting better and better.

This is not a massive upgrade. He is just a little better than Moseley. Just a little.
This is awesome. We made a move at a true position of need and he's young! They must know they will be under the cap Wednesday to do this. It sure seems it will be move Jimmy Tuesday. Probably wrapping up details with Colts.

He better be worth it. Or we just got hosed by the chiefs for like the 5th time in the last few years lmao
Ian Rapoport has it at 40.5 Million. Not sure if he or Schefter is accurate.

I'm liking this pick! He's only going to get better in coverage, he's already the best tackling CB in the league. HE'S YOUNG. And he has a ton of experience in the NFL. I don't know his injury history but it sounds like he stays healthy.

Yup. We were getting torched alive until Moseley came back. We're almost set in the secondary...

His highlights have lots of man coverage snaps. Experienced and still young enough to be improving. He'll have every chance to start with a competition between Moseley and Ambry Thomas for the other spot. Good signing. The 49ers were never going to outbid a team with lots of cap for JCJackson/Gilmore.

Chase is on a league of his own. He did the same to Ramsey!!

Good luck facing Nuk, DK and Kupp twice per season.

His coverage stats say otherwise. You also talk as if Moseley is some scrub and not a legit starting corner.

He's gotten better every season thus far. For the 49ers he represents a substantial upgrade from what they had last season. Ward, Moseley and Thomas is a solid group that will look even better if they bring back Verrett and add another rookie via the draft.

The guaranteed money puts it around 9 per year. He hits all his marks can get as high as 40

Chiefs leave their outside corners on an island a lot I believe.
