At least he always turns his head to find the ball and avoid PI. But dude really needs to hit the jug machine and work on his catching. He also seems to follow the opposing team's #1WR in man coverage. Potential is there.

I don't know? Is he really that good? The weakest part of the Chiefs defense is their secondary. I've never been impressed with their secondary. They get burned all the time. They just out score people with their offense and Mahomes. I don't think their secondary is at all what made that team great.

-he improved a ton in his time there
-he had a really good 2021 season
-he got torched in the playoffs
This made me lol
Is it incorrect? I watched all the playoff games but didnt watch with an eye on Ward.

To be fair, Ward has never played in our defense so we don't know what he is yet.
I'm assuming our coaches saw something that he did well that would help our defense. Unless Lynch is flying solo, but remember Lynch himself was a DB so...

Just this one move here makes us a lot better in the secondary, "iron sharpens iron"
Draft another CB in the draft, bring back K Williams and find J Wards (safety) eventual replacement...

There should only be one Jimmie next season so this guy will be referred to as CWard.

KC's pass D sucked. Those dudes were getting roasted. Why not go after Gilmore.

His highlights have lots of man coverage snaps. Experienced and still young enough to be improving. He'll have every chance to start with a competition between Moseley and Ambry Thomas for the other spot. Good signing. The 49ers were never going to outbid a team with lots of cap for JCJackson/Gilmore.
This. We had zero chance of getting Jackson because the Chargers had the ability to keep increasing any offer until they secured him. We also have no clue what Gilmore is demanding, hell, for all we know Gilmore might have a huge ego from being the best CB in football for a couple years, so for all we know he might want more than his former teammate Jackson.

The cornerback's 71.2 overall Pro Football Focus grade and 69.4 coverage grade from this past season were career-highs.
"According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Ward allowed the lowest average separation on targets (2 yards) and second-lowest completion % among DBs (45%), among DBs with min. 50 targets in '21," ESPN's Nick Wagoner tweeted.

A good pass rush really helps them and makes them better.
