Receivers are starting to beat him more and more on those sideline comeback routes and backshoulder throws. How do you think he can counter those without risking getting beat over the top on a double move?

Pass rush to throw off the timing.

Safety help over top so that he can play the sideline throws helps too.
I'm curious what the game film showed. I presume Demeco adjusted coverages to take that away in the second half.

John Chapman said that Ryan's said F the zone coverage and just moved Ward to shadow Hopkins after the first quarter.

and after that happened, Charvarious stayed with Hopkins and he kinda just neutralized him. Plus he is a non-pareil tackler. You just don't see him miss tackles. The one long gain on a running play for AZ was when Nick jumped offsides, and everybody just kind of stopped, which they shouldn't have done. That was the one big gainer for AZ. After that, our DBs, Ss, and LBs really kept the heat on. Hopkins was on fire to start but once Charvarious singled him, that was pretty much the end of it.

I have no problem with this at all.

Hopkins is a really good receiver but Ward and Co. kept him out of the end zone and kept score low. That's the name of the game. Neutralize the best players. That's what we did.

Additionally Hopkins has always been a yapper. Like Ramsey tho, the talkers do have bad games or seasons and that's when you need to shut up not shoot up. Ramsey still talks s**t in every game and has been getting owned all season. Wonder if he will be next start to accidentally take steroids.

Talking a win with a smile on my face. Feels good.
didn't jimmy ward throw down with hopkins when he was a texan?

Yes, during a joint TC practice.

Dude is running his mouth after giving up almost 100 yards. Don't give AZ any material for the week 18 matchup. That game might be important

He didn't give up all those yards to him.

Plus if Hopkins is doing dumb stuff and grabbing one of our guys by the throat and facemask you really think our guys won't be ready to tear him and Arizona another new one then? If true dude needs to be called out on stuff like that.
Hopkins is an idiot and has gotten a pass his whole college and NFL career due to his talent. I'm glad Ward called him out. At the same time, Ward did give up some big completions to him but luckily nothing back breaking.

He has 0 missed tackles all year. He's the #1 DB against the run according to PFF, Gibson is #5. Nice to have 2 FA pickups top 5. Very underrated and overlooked part of his game, excellent in run support. Also, Hopkins is a top ~3 WR in the league, thought he did about as well as you could do against him most of the game

I don't know if it is true or if someone was just joking but they said it was overheard at the game that a Niners player went up to Hopkins before the game to say hello and he said he only talked to All Pro's and the Niners player said, so you don't talk to anyone on your team?

That sounds a little too good to be true especially it seems hard to believe it would have literally been overheard by a fan who may or may not have even understood it or that it would have been leaked by a player.

Still hilarious though.

Missing 3 starters on the d line has hampered our pass rush. It's basically Bosa or nothing unless they blitz.
