Niners sign LB Oren Burks

It seems like every year the 49ers go out on early in free agency and get a special teamer guy early on. Did the same thing with Shefield last year. Hopefully the new coach will get better use out of them.
He was drafted in the same round as Fred Warner. I like the move, but we still need to give a long term deal to Azeez
Never heard of him so I have no feedback other than welcome and I hope he is solid for us.
They're probably going to lose Marcel harris (unrestricted FA ) and Al-Shaair is a restricted FA. He's a replacement for Harris at the least and possibly for Al-Shaair.
If anything, it's a good sign they might be actually prioritizing ST now and listening to John Schneider's little brother. Now go get a returner!
Just a special teams signing.

Warner, Greenlaw, Azeez, DFF, Burks

Of course we'll add competition with rookies.

Would suck to lose another key player ( Al-Shaair )

I think he gets converted to Edge. His Relative Athletic Scores (RAS) compare favorably with guys like Brian Burns and Hassan Reddick (who was also drafted as an ILB but flourished when moved to Edge). He's got 6.82 3-cone, a 4.15 short shuttle, and a 1.59 10-yard split - all elite scores for Edge. I think he's a low-cost project for Kocurek that in a perfect world would allow them to replace Ebukam's salary.
cool story

Was thinking this too. We've been sniffing around for a kick off/punt returner too.
