2-4 months recovery per nfl network. This would support a bicep detachment. Hopefully 2 months and he can wear a brace. I'm not sure if there's a final date for short term IR ?
INJURIES
- S George Odum suffered a torn biceps in Thursday's game and will have surgery that requires a two-to-four month recovery, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.
He can be activated into the playoffs, no set limit, can be activated right before the Super Bowl.
Definitely around NFCCG time. I remember when some acted as if his signing meant nothing. He will be missed.

Me 2, & then he was 2nd team all pro last yr will be missed big time, but Womack back will help, & others like Luter & Bell will help too.

Thanks AB. Hopefully we see him in action for the playoffs. Since he's a ST guy, not a WR, I could see him playing with a brace. It's more of a pain and stiffness deal after a few weeks and the doctors determine he can't reinjure it.
Any time,

- NFL Pick 'em
I have to say he should NOT play this year, With it being so late and a long time. If he can come back week 18 to get a real game in before a playoff game, maybe.
But i would hate for him to not succeed in 1v1 tackle because of his arm, and then re injure it.

Hate losing Odum, but as you always say, next man up - and hopefully we find some diamonds in the rough in Luter, Bell, and Womack.

49ers have been fortunate this year for a change. They haven't lost any key playersfor long periods. Let's hope that continues the rest of the way because health is a major part of post season success as we know so well.

Agree, and it does help when you only have about 3-ish games on astro-turf the entire regular season.

Still on IR...but full participant today. (1/17) Can't believe this dude might actually make it back this year. I have to believe he's going to have to brace that bicep to protect it.

This is great news! I've had this surgery on both biceps. I wish I had had his doctor and rehab protocol.
He's going to be playing football 2 months before the 'normal' guy would be cleared to start lifting again.

This could be a huge impact tbh. He was our best ST before he went down.
