That's not the money he will see. As always, wait for the real numbers.

Nah that's not that bad a contract for a first team all pro special Teams ace and a good backup guy who could get snaps in some packages

Was gonna happen anyways without Hightower
Solid player. Excellent special teams player who can start a few games and be solid. Also still a young player who is getting better. Quality signing IMO

I think Odum will be more than just a ST ace...only time will tell for sure, but he has the tackling abilities, no doubt about that. My first thought was this is it for Tartt. As for Hufanga, I don't think he'll take over for JT. His pass coverage needs a lot of work. Maybe Odum and Hufanga compete and the best man wins the job. There's a talented bunch of S in the draft, too. I noticed all 4 guys signed so far are in their mid to upper 20's. They've cut their teeth with other teams and may take the next step w/the Niners.

I agree. I think Odum will have a chance to compete for the starting SS spot. That being said, I really hope we draft an athletic play making safety in the first 4 rounds of the draft. You can get a good safety in rounds 3-5 IMO. I really wanted us to draft Chauncey-Gardner and he's turned into a heck of a safety for the Saints and he was a later round pick
I think he's going to get a legit chance to start. Everything I've read is he's played pretty good when given the chance but hasn't really been given the chance to play a lot.

My guess is they will bring in a rookie and Odum, Hufanga, and the rookie will compete for the starting job.

Lynch doesn't seem to value his safeties as much as one would think considering his background. It's kinda like that throughout the NFL though.

As someone else mentioned, that's likely the max earnings and very probable the structure of the deal has him not ever seeing all of that.

Unless he plays lights out which is very promising

Worth up to $10.95M, so that means it's max of $10.95M with incentives most likely, likely $1M a yr, so it's likely a 3yr $7.95M deal, $2.65M a yr deal, that aint bad for a ST Ace & a guy who can play SS if needed.
