We only need to replace two incumbent starters, but we may already have those guys on the roster. I think maybe that's what AB was getting at.
We do still have plenty of time to add other free agents and rookies to ensure those spots are taken care of too.
Right, it is early.
As far as replacing DJJ and Laken with Kinlaw and Banks, we've seen Kinlaw, and he's an inferior player to DJJ in all aspects of DL play. Who knows what they have in Aaron Banks, but the fact that he was a 2nd-round pick and couldn't crack the active day roster let alone win the starting job is not a good sign.

I think the jury is still out on Javon, as far as at guard, I'm very curious to see the competition between whoever we bring in, whether free agent and/or rookie, and then Colton McK, Moore, and Banks.

Players like Person, Brunskill, Compton, etc. granted that list is small, but at the higher levels of competition when coaching and talent levels are similar or more, that small list can be the difference between a win and a loss.
How do you see this off-season being different from others? I guess the urgency for is driven by two things:
Health - Each season tests health depth and is the one thing that sustains a team throughout a long season.
Cap - Each year that goes by it's progressively more difficult to keep the same talented group together.
I think we could. There are plenty of names still available out there.
OG - Max Garcia, Trai Turner, Billy Price, Kyle Long
WR - Julio Jones, Jarvis Landry, OBJ, Jamison Crowder, TY Hilton, Cole Beasley
TE - Eric Ebron, Kyle Rudolph, Jared Cook, Jesse James, Kaden Smith
S - Tyrann Matheiu, Jessie Bates, Jabrill Peppers
DE - Derek Barnett, Kerry Hyder, Ryan Kerrigan, Genard Avery, Jerry Hughes
DT - Brandon Williams, Eddie Goldman, Star Lotulieie, Jarran Reed, Danny Shelton

Bates was tagged, no way Cincinnati let's him go, I'd love Mathieu, but I'd be happy bringing back Key, Willis, adding someone like Hyder or Dunlap, I really like Valdez-Scantling, he's unsigned still.

I definitely want Hyder back. He's better against the run than Dunlap, if I'm not mistaken, and fits our system well. If he plays like he did previously, we would have a really nice rotation with him, Bosa, Omenihu, and whoever else we add in the draft.

Well at this point we are obviously getting worse as a team relative to last year. I assume we will have to make some moves going forward to try to change that, but if Kinlaw/Banks/Moore/McKivitz don't step up in a big way we are undoubtedly worse at 2 critical areas of our team. OL is really important....will assume that the team knows something we don't, but if not we are putting Trey in a bad spot and risking wasting the golden opportunity we have with the rest of the division declining.

Deep draft at Edge and solid draft at interior OL. I gotta imagine they feel pretty good about who they will end up drafting at those positions.

This has to be their line of thinking esp. at this point. They'll add a few get-by cheap cut veterans going forward to fill out the 90 but their focus is solely on the draft. G, C and ER have to be their main focus in the draft. S's, TE2's and DL are always available all year. They can pick up those throughout the off season and even in-season. CB they can add late too.
The problem is they don't have a good eye for IOL or ER in the draft thus far. Those should have been positions they targeted in FA.

The 9ers are most likely expecting kinlaw and Banks to fill the holes of, Jones and Tomlinson. They made similar mistakes last year when they believed an Injury prone Verrett would be our starting CB. I hope they have a plan B just incase Banks sucks and Kinlaw ends up on I.R again, which Is more than likely.

When did Banks step in? I don't remember that.

I really have no issue with what they did in FA, they weren't gonna pay Laken $13.3M a yr, or DJ $10M a yr, I would go $10M for both, but that's me. I like the Ward signing, he I think will become a nice #1 CB, I also like the McCloud, Burks, & Odum signings, our ST unit is better, & Ridgeway is a good player, rotational guy, yes I wish/hope they go after a IOL and/or EDGE in FA, if not, get some young ones, cause we were in on Jones, he chose LV, Idk why, but nothing on IOL, which I dont get.

Add Mike McGlinchey to that mindset as well. This is what they do.

Definitely. No issues with the actual signings.
Very disappointed in the inactivity in the IOL and ER buckets as both pools were very strong in FA and teams were willing to trade them too. We sat pat. It's not like the FO didn't know we'd lose Laken or need another ER. D.J. I knew would be gone months ago, objectively. And I was OK with that. Laken too as long as you replace him and add an ER.
