One key player on your list is Kinlaw. It would be great if he can play a full season. In think even 12-13 games would be a victory for him. We will need to draft another healthy body DT to fill that role in the rotation.

I'm pretty focused on the AARON BANKS/JAYLON MOORE/COLTON MCKIVITZ trio. The Niners have accumulated a lot of potential OG/OT depth over the years.

Specifcally, I'm curious how they view Moore. If Banks is going to get a shot at LG, what is Moore's best spot? Is he McG's heir apparent? Would a rookie be able to beat that trio out to start, especially if McGlinchy isn't ready.

The second oline question is Mack. It seems like center is a place that Shanahan wants a vet and he's willing to spend on. Are there any FA OC on the market? I can see two scenarios
1) veteran depth behind Mack
2) Mack walks, and they bring in (trade or FA) a younger, long term upgrade

If you haven't seen Shifty's recent YouTube video, hes got some good thoughts on this topic.

I really like the idea of Tretter. Mack was a godsend last year, but he's getting older.

Tretter is still on the market, came from a run first offense, and I have to imagine, Tretter would likely welcome a chance to be on a pererrenial play-off team with SB aspirations.

I'm with Shifty, let's go get Tretter.

Deep draft at Edge and solid draft at interior OL. I gotta imagine they feel pretty good about who they will end up drafting at those positions.

This has to be their line of thinking esp. at this point. They'll add a few get-by cheap cut veterans going forward to fill out the 90 but their focus is solely on the draft. G, C and ER have to be their main focus in the draft. S's, TE2's and DL are always available all year. They can pick up those throughout the off season and even in-season. CB they can add late too.

The problem is they don't have a good eye for IOL or ER in the draft thus far. Those should have been positions they targeted in FA.

I really have no issue with what they did in FA, they weren't gonna pay Laken $13.3M a yr, or DJ $10M a yr, I would go $10M for both, but that's me. I like the Ward signing, he I think will become a nice #1 CB, I also like the McCloud, Burks, & Odum signings, our ST unit is better, & Ridgeway is a good player, rotational guy, yes I wish/hope they go after a IOL and/or EDGE in FA, if not, get some young ones, cause we were in on Jones, he chose LV, Idk why, but nothing on IOL, which I dont get.

Definitely. No issues with the actual signings.

Very disappointed in the inactivity in the IOL and ER buckets as both pools were very strong in FA and teams were willing to trade them too. We sat pat. It's not like the FO didn't know we'd lose Laken or need another ER. D.J. I knew would be gone months ago, objectively. And I was OK with that. Laken too as long as you replace him and add an ER.

Jimmy is going to play Edge and OL

Hahaha!

Won't be laughing when he breaks the sack record ! The question is at what position
If it's really true we have an offer of two second rounders for Jimmy, we better take it asap. Dunno if this is pending a deal for Matt Ryan going somewhere or what..
I would think they will sign some vet OL to add competition before the draft. Like a Person or Compton. And the past days that guy is going to end up starting for a bit.
I'm relatively pleased with our offseason so far, to be honest.
A lot of fans are frustrated we're not being more active, but really... it's not our M.O. to be active free agent players. Our thing is to draft well and extend the players who pan out.

Obviously, it sucks to lose Laken Tomlinson and D.J. Jones. We're going to miss those two. But I'm happy we signed a quality CB. In my opinion, he'll be a Pro Bowl-level CB with our pass rush. And it seems like the other signings are to improve Special Teams and provide some depth.

Of course, we'll need Aaron Banks and Javon Kinlaw to step up since Tomlinson and Jones are gone. We'll be competing next season. Should be fun to watch.

Those are high-demand positions around the league. Everybody is looking for the next Quentin Nelson but that guy isn't available in quantity.

The fact they let LT walk suggests they believe the remade Aaron Banks will step in at LG. Until/unless that happens, the loss of Tomlinson is a major blow to the offense. He was a top 12 guard in the league.

I agree with you. Never been a fan of splashy FA signings. Although i will concede the Rams made it work.

I think the Rams' success is why people are a little more impatient than usual. But I'll say that the Rams are an exception to the rule. I'm interested to see where they go from here. Stafford's extension was a bit team-friendly, so they should still be competitive for a couple years and aren't going to be a one-and-done team.
the Rams didn't sign a bunch of Free agents. they traded for talent.

My look at the current roster, locks, 50/50, longshots, etc...
Great article AB! Thank you for all you share with us!
Some holes I see potentially...

Need vet RB to replace Mostert
Need #3 wideout
Need reserve TE
Need future C perhaps draft and have under Mack for a year
Pass rush always a need/good idea
