Should John Lynch be replaced as GM?

Why would you fire Lynch? Because he hasn't performed to your liking on paper this offseason. Let me remind you the on field results. 2 of the past 3 years, the 49ers have made it to the Super Bowl and NFC Championship because of the transactions Lynch has made. And the year they didn't make the playoffs, they were still battling for a playoff spot until the very end of the season. Had it not been for an absurd amount of injuries that year, we would probably be saying at minimum, the 49ers have been to the Super Bowl, NFC Championship and PLAYOFFS the past 3 years. Lynch, with Kyle and Paraag, have assembled an extremely talented roster. No way should Lynch be fired.
lmao at this. Grow up people and learn the art of patience. Keep things in perspective. Where were we before this current FO?

First of all, credit to Dopeman for this thread.

Second of all, I think John Lynch should be retained even after this less than optimal off-season so far. I think Lynch and Kyle have a good working relationship that helped accomplish an unbelievably rebuild to a franchise that was a laughing stock at one point around the league after the whole Harbaugh fiasco.

We we might be able to do better with him gone but I also believe we can do worse and I would rather not find out which is true.

What do you say?

I think you should be banned for even making this thread and then blaming Dopeman for it.

Shouldn't this convo go in with the original Lynch thread?

Totally disagree with your 2nd paragraph. As much as I'm ready to move on from Jimmy he's far outlived his value as being gotten for a 2nd rounder. He hasn't been the same since he tore up his knee in KC, that's hardly Lynch's fault.

The injury didn't change him. He was not playing well at the start of 2018.

In his defense the season started with 2 terrible road games at Minnesota and KC, I was at both and it was hostile, with a good game by him sandwiched between them at home against Detroit.
No! He has helped turn the franchise around and rebuild the culture. 2 deep playoff runs to show for it. Not to mention JL had no GM experience and has been learning on the job. Who says he won't get better? I think he's been fine overall and I'm guessing he has solid connections around the league. A few misses but all GMs have those. Keep Lynch

jimmy had a dropped pick 6 that Home game vs Detroit late in the 4th. we won 30-27
Hard to fire a gm that got you to a Superbowl a two NFC championship games.

That's not good enough bro. Apparently we need someone unproven who will hopefully do better!!!

Rinse and repeat after that and then again and again.

I admire teams like the Steelers and Pats who find their guy and stick with them even after a couple down years.

Honestly I was jk about the thread but I'm glad you created it and even framed it nicely. This reminds me of the pre-shanahan era where folks created "FIRE ____" threads every single season, and they were surprisingly entertaining threads.

And to answer your question, YES they should fire him! I think this dude is living proof that a good coaching staff can turn a tv broadcaster into a decent general manager.
Lunch
Paraag is the real GM, so it doesn't matter. Lynch is mostly a mouthpiece at the end of the day.
nope

It doesn't matter what GM or HC we have who has/shares personnel power, the same exact moneyball patterns persist.

Paraag runs this b***h.

Some of you will need another regime before you see it.

So no, Lynch isn't going anywhere. Nor should he. There's even a small chance he's promoted to, 'EVP of Football Operations' and takes over that title from Paraag. With Peters being elevated to GM. That's our ideal scenario. Faithful.

I think what we are actually seeing is a combination of 3-4 people with major input into how this org is run. I dont think its fair to blame just one.

Parag controls the books. He's not going to let Lynch and Shanny ruin this franchise down the road by over paying any particular player they may want. He probably tells them they got this specific $$ to spend in free agency and holds Lynch to it. He's looking out for the warfare of the team down the road.

Lynch runs the day to day operations. He needs to appease Kyle and probably has final say on personnel. He has to make what Kyle wants, work with what Parag says he can spend.

Peters honestly none of us know but i think Lynch leans on him in the personnel aspect. I dont think he has final say.

Kyle is the #2 guy behind York but delegates all of the above tasks so he can concentrate on coaching duties

York stays out the way and writes checks. Prays the structure above gets the job done which for the most part has.

Essentially this.
Jed is the owner but stays out the decisition-making for the team.
Kyle is the boss. He´s the architect of the team top to bottom like Belichick with the Patriots.
John is his right hand. Adam seems to be the top scout.
And Paraag is the cap man.
And so far, it seems that everybody knows his role and handles it well.

Should have been fired after that first draft but then again he's just a mouthpiece for Kyle. Dude has no real power.
