As much as I like Ebukam and would like him back , there's a good chance Jackson is the reason they let him walk next season.

You can never have too many pass rushers. But the cap sucks!

Pretty much. Depending on how kinlaw goes, they might be better suited going for an interior guy like Payne. Guess it depends on what he will command on the open market.

Case in point.
We're gonna have tough decisions in free agency. Omenihu, Samson, Hyder and Willis all are free agents after this season. Bosa and Jackson obviously will need some depth behind them. Probably resign whoever we can for cheap and draft a bunch of DL to save on cost.

True. Imagine if he played full time like the other rookie DEs. He be viewed as the best imo

Ain't that the truth.

I imagine Hyder and Willis will be gone, but relying on them picking up another couple of bargains. They seem to be good at that. Would like to see Omenihu back.

they key is to keep them fresh which is why our depth looks good

Agreedy. I thought they'd let Ebukam walk this year because of the cap number. Its sad because he is a guy in his prime and coming into his own as a rusher. I wish we can keep him, but he is going to command a lot on the open market.

Agreed. Willis can be a number 3 on practically any team and a starter on a team with no edge rushers. Realistically, I say we keep Omenihu and Hyder. I doubt Hyder can demand much. He is older and has done nothing when he wasn't on a team with Coach K. Then maybe we can go bargain hunting for the next Jordan Willis, Arden Key, Ebukam, etc. We also have Turray.

Hoping they pick up Clelin Ferrell and he turns out to be another Arden Key. Just needs the right coach and new scenery.

I posted that in the Ferrell thread some time ago. Ferrell has talent but was drafted too high and wasn't put in the right position. Id definitely sign him to a cheap 1 year deal. I think he can be an inside guy on pass downs, outside on run.

It's been crazy how many there have been for dirt cheap the past 2 years. Right now we are spending $28M for the OL and $37.3M on the DL.

Bosa will make north of $30M but they'll have the option to take a bigger hit next year or down the road.

Plus Jackson gives Lynch/Shanahan insurance in-case Bosa asks for ridiculous money.

Drake Jackson is insurance for Nick freakin' Bosa? I'm as high on Drake as anyone but pump the brakes. The guy is super raw at this point in his career. Most of his pressures/sacks are schemed up or clean-ups. Also, he's getting home the most from the inside their nascar package. He isn't consistently beating any tackles one-on-one at this point in his career. If he's going to be the guy, he needs to start winning there. Maybe one day he can become a dude, but he's not there yet. He's got a long ways to go in his technique, rush planning, working a counter, timing, hand placement, etc.

And of course, Bosa is going to ask for ridiculous money and get it. He's an elite edge rusher, and elite edge rushers get ridiculous money.
