Improve those hands, young blood. Beat the hands, beat the man.

He should hang out with Bosa in the off season.
Hit the rookie wall. Not too surprising, as it happens to a large % of them.

No major injuries this year, he just needs reps.

I;m sure Kyle will have that talk about how people get better in the offseason, not during the season.

It was good to hear Kyle say that Drake simply lost steam as the season progressed - as opposed to poor ability or bad attitude. That's something that can be addressed by having a good offseason program. Being the bookend to Bosa is Drake's for the taking and he needs to realize this is a chance to make a huge name ($) for himself. Keep in mind, he's still 21.

I am slowly rewatching the season....

The entire 49ers d-line lost steam....including Bosa........

Maybe they need to just eat a roster spot and make sure there is a better rotation as the year goes on.

It was not Dee Ford meeting Bosa at the QB levels of great, but Jackson looked the part on several snaps....the potential is there.

The defense is one guy away from EPIC.....85 Bears level of Epic.

They need one more good pass rusher, and the rest of the line to stay healthy and watch out.

If Jackson makes the leap next year and everyone maintains their general levels of production, we are going to get a whole new round of "omg the 49ers D-coordinator is a genius!" talk.
From 3 to 8 is is good expectations. If he played more he probably could've finished with 5/6. Maybe he can push to be a 10 sack guy next year.

I really want to believe this but it's kind of hard given the amount of snaps that he actually took. Perhaps there's more to the phrase "rookie wall" than I'm aware of.

All things considered I still file him in the "promising" category. Maybe it's going to take him a year to shake off any of the OLB instincts that were expected at USC. He's in great company now that's for sure.

I always took it to mean the college season starts earlier, ends earlier and has less games with more rest weeks then the NFL on top of their generally being less downs to be played week in and week out on average.

I could be wrong on this comparison, but I seem to remember when we were trying to get Bosa's true pressure rate we found out Nick Bosa had something like 430 snaps the year before he came out, this year on the 49ers he had 806 snaps.

I think that is what people mean when they say rookie wall..... from the end of the College season, into the combine season, into Training Camps, then Pre-season, then a long regular season, heck maybe even post season....young players just get worn down.

In fairness to Drake....the entire defensive line looks like it ran out of steam.... they all looked tired.
Yeah dshearn I hear ya, snaps wasn't the best measurement there. They definitely were wearing down. I can't wait until they hire a coordinator so I can obsess over how they're going to use Drake .

If I had one small criticism of Ryans it was how and when they sent a fifth rusher. Take a lil load off the big boys if we can.

Jackson was a rookie - the offseason program with help him a ton. He seems to have it, and all the various sources commenting are right on this. I also assume we'll lose one of the edge guys going into next year, but Jackson seems primed for a larger workload next year.

As for the Niner dline as a whole, I think they are still missing a little interior strength which occupies multiple blockers. They should be rebalanced for next year.

Id say between Drake, Moseley and/or Lenoir, and an interior pass rusher.
Drakes gonna need a big JUMP in year two to be impactful for us next year. I find that jump being very hard to do and have doubts of seeing it happen.
