I get a boner easier than you I guess, because mine took place after that first sack. Were they opportune sacks? No doubt. But that happens in the NFL. For him to get three of them in the first game means something. It wasn't just all luck. But, that's just my opinion.

I said before that this is some what like the Roy Barker-Chris Coleman tandem Barker had some clean up sacks for sure because the QB was pushed to the right with the pocket collapsing.

Double digit sacks don't just happen, you cant throw just anyone on the other side of an elite pass rusher and expect double digit sacks. It is possible that Drake does not get double digit sacks, but I would not bet against him getting 7 sacks in 16 games.

For Reference 4 ends to push 20 sacks in recent memory:

Reggie White's 21 sack season- Clyde Simmons had 6 sacks on the other side
*Micheal Strahan's 22.5 sack season- Kenny Holmes had 3.5 sacks on the other side (Brett Farve BS)
JJ Watt's 20 sack season- Antonio Smith had 7 sacks on the other side
Bruce Smith's 19 sack season- Leroy Seals had 4 sacks on the other side

We don't have to "Crown" Drake for some clean up sacks, but that does take skill. You have to stay on your feet, and have a strong motor to stay live during a play to help make an impact.

A Sack can be looked at as individual stat or a team stat or both. Either way it's a good deal for our team that Drake is athletic enough to get the sack even if he didn't cause the initial pressure.

I was going to say, "I think 8 sacks would be a big season for Drake." It's good to hear that he's putting in the weight room work this offseason. I look forward to seeing him apply that strength on the field because that's always been one of the concerns with him. That said, we should keep in mind that strength wasn't Drake's only shortcomings last year. He's got a long ways to go as pass rusher with his handwork and pass-rush plan. I'd like to see Drake hone in on his go-to move this year and build his secondary and counters off of that. He seemed to be throwing s**t at the wall and hoping it stuck last season.

Let's not forget that Drake is only 22 years old. I think his breakout season will be in 2024 after he's had multiple offseasons of refining his pass rush skill and building his body.

I have a feeling that he's going to LEAD the league in sacks for sure and may end up being the DPOY if can stay healthy..

HE COMIN !!! HE COMINNNN !!!

Calm down, my guy, calm down

19 sacks at the very worst !!!

Once Bosa gets going, olines won't know who to double team. Drake will definitely get double digits
Doesn't matter if he gets the sack on his own or because the QB got flushed out of the pocket. The first one was because Arik flushed Picket, but Drake still had to chase him down, that is the difference. Do you take advantage of your opps. How many times the niners flushed the QB last year but the QB broke the containment.

The whole key to the DL is someone flushing the QB and another takes advantage of the opp.

Drakes problems last year was his stamina and strength. If he can endure he will be better than okay.

This will make the blitz more effective too.
Seems to me Drake has the ideal size and athleticism to finish the sack, bringing the QB down. With Bosa, Hargreaves, and Armstead, he will have plenty of opportunities for clean up sacks.

They'll still double Bosa. Every team they play this year will be hyper focused on the reigning DPOY.
Even if he is just a chase down the QB artist, that is what we needed. How many times have we seen QBs escape Bosa and then have all the time in the world to make a back yard play?

Drake made sure there werent any second or third attempts. He may not win off the snap but if he makes sure that the QB that bosa flushes out of the pocker in 3 seconds only has a second more before Drake gets to him, thats a win. None of this Wilson style of keeping plays alive for an eternity anymore.

BUT I think this is how he is being used.. While Bosa or the other DL are getting to the QB, Drake is the one they call " The Chaser " where he sits, sits, and then he chases the QB once he gets out of the pocket.

Reminds me of Ahmad Brooks when he was younger.

He got those sacks off pure speed and finishing ability.

A lot of guys get close but usually can't finish. Brooks was good at not letting the QB juke and outrun him. Similar to Jackson this last game getting just enough in space to finish.

correct.. ONLY, that Brooks was an OLB under Fangio.. he was really the best GEM found by Samurai Mike...

then stupid Baalke had to treat Aldrunk Smith like a baby.. Instead of making him share playing time w/Aaron Slob Lynch, Brooks had to share his.. for some reason, Brooks really never got the respect he deserved ... Brooks, 52 and 53 shoulda been ALL WORLD..
