That was me in the injury thread.
I had higher hopes for him. He did ok week one but people were flushed to him on the sacks.
He hasn't done much since. He's been losing playing time. We had to trade for two DE's to get help. They brought in Young and cut a CB. A DE had to go. As soon as I saw they said he had a knee injury, I knew he was going on IR and we'd add a CB. I figured Womack but maybe that's coming next week. Give Drake time to heal and improve.
If Thomas. Oliver. Or Kinlaw get any kind of injury, they are next

Props. I thought I remembered someone calling this move out.

Spot on on the rest as well.

When such a big deal was made about him adding 13 pounds of muscle during the offseason you could see the team was trying to find any positive on this guy going to year 2. Even game 1 when sacks fell to his feet the media hype was really hoping for for something to build on.
Hes not done yet, but he wasn't about to suit up anymore with this rotation. Hopefully he figures it out.

For real. I never really got the weight thing as a positive thing. We constantly did that in the past to fit that big-end mold and it didn't do jack. Quite a list IIRC.
I don't know what fans do more. Jump on the band wagon and proclaim a player to be a star based on limited action or claim he's a bust based on limited action. Nobody wants to give players time to develop. They want instant success. Personally I prefer a player that starts slowly and develops into a long time starter than one that flashes instant success and then drops into the world of mediocrity.

It all depends on draft position.

1st and 2nd rounders, especially in certain positions (not qb or wr) are expected to be day 1 contributors. If it's a 2nd or 3rd day pick then they're allowed to develop.

Spot #97 is traditionally the start of the 3rd round. Drake went #94 overall.

When did players taken where almost 100 other guys were taken before them become "top picks" ??

Always thought that was reserved for several players,...at most. Or are we unconcerned with reality and just trying to build a narrative? (i.e...."I need to take over as GM")

He was the 61st pick.

Lmao
Numbers are hard for some.

Ha ha no. Made a mistake in my review....we were on page 94,....he wasn't pick 94.

Even so,...how is the 61st overall pick a "Top Pick" ??

I still need help with that one.
Jury is still out.

I'd like to see him develop - I feel the potential is there.

this dude totally disappears for long stretches, you can't do that as a starter in this league. unfortunately i think he's a backup or practice squad call up at best

Sometimes it takes a little longer for guys. Sometimes it never comes. All you can do is wait and see.

DL are not some easy dime a dozen position
Any chance Drake is ready for post-season play?

Hope not, he sucks

This.

Drake is still really young, so he's still got a chance to develop and turn it around. But the dude isn't good at all right now, and the team would only get worse by activating him.
This pick looks like a bust now. Landing on "fake IR" after failing to produce, and will most likely not be playing in playoffs - just like last year. Spending a late 2nd on him at time where we cannot afford to have big misses really stings.
How did he get so bad so quick from his 3 sack game so early in the season?
