Need someone who knows O line play to tell me if Banks was good in these plays. Most of the time he found a way to not hit anyone and that goes against everything I was taught playing football.

There were two plays in those highlights where Burford passed off a defensive lineman and picked up another one. That is something we don't see that often from our lineman.

What are you talking about? If we are going about those 9 reps... he won his 1v1s. Correctly passed off defenders to the next lineman. His worst play was the one he got sandwiched between two other O linemen and fell to the side. You can only block the person infront of you, on those 9 plays he did, but for half of them the scheme called for him to pass off the D lineman or there was no one to block.

I agree. There certainly is a lot of potential for excitement. Those were his 9 highlights out of 27 snaps though. He did real well in the run game. He had a few really good pass snaps as well. He also had 5 really poor pass snaps. I am looking forward to seeing some improvement by the start of the season. He just has to keep grinding. I love how all 3 IOL are showing a knack for passing off defenders on stunts.

I havent rewatched every snap just went off the 9 snaps of Burfords highlights. But it's all encouraging. Last year he thought too much and it made him slow. It wasnt as if he was failing physically, he just was a second late with his assignments and in the NFL that is a fail.

But you can see with the body transformation and a year of study he is correctly handing off D linemen with no hesitations and being where he is supposed to be. He wont always win but he made huge leaps with his mental game. Thats what I took away from it.

I said I do not know about OLine play so I don't understand why your so defensive but all good. I figured his worst play was the outside zone play he got blown into the backfield making the RB cut inside.

Theres no defensiveness about it lol. Pure observation. He did what he was supposed to do. You said "Most of the time he found a way to not hit anyone and that goes against everything I was taught playing football." I just responded saying that within the scheme he played pretty well. Won most of his 1v1s and didnt hesitate with his assignments. If the scheme tells you to pass off the D lineman to the center or tackle, you shuffle to help out who you can... the opportunity to hit someone simply isnt there.

Agree. If Buford & Banks can step up & be solid & improve all year it will help this oline & offense a ton

I was just checking this video out also. Nice breakdown.
Please let this kid be a star and all the hype be true ! It'll be about damn time the niners got lucky on a mid-late OL pick, last one was Trent Brown who didn't fit the scheme when Shanahan took over.

Yup, he Definity was lazy, but also he didn't fit.

The guys the 49ers currently have look very athletic and none of them look lazy, for sure.
