💯 The slot is the toughest position to play of the cornerbacks.
Welp if anyone doubted it; Womack pretty much locked up the job with the release of Dennard today. Congratulations young man

Big shoes to fill for the youngster gonna probably miss Kwaun with run support but Womack looks the part in coverage.
I am surprised they cut Dennard so soon. Maybe Kyle wants Womack to get majority of the snaps for the remainder of pre-season because he is a rookie and needs snaps.

He's actually good in run defense too from what Demeco said yesterday.

Dennard hopefully will be a good depth player to sign later in the year if he's still available. WoWmack definitely looks like a starter level player.
Lol, poor Dennard, from starter to first round of cuts. 🤣
Seems like they gave Dennard an early release as a courtesy to hopefully catch on elsewhere. Class move while also being a BIG vote of confidence for Womack.

Completely this.

They chose to go younger and less cap hit but are doing right by their players. Its one of the reason people can talk smack about Lynch all they want, but guys want to play here again, unlike the past two decades. I mean what other franchise has a $25m QB not practicing or playing for the sole reason that he gets to go to where he wants. Regardless of the views of JG, this is like a lighthouse beacon to the rest of the NFL that you will be taken care of even if things dont work out.
As an aside, it's pretty amazing that a draft without a first round pick netted two probable day one starters in the middle rounds (Burford, Womack) and an immediate impact EDGE in round two (the Drake) who should become a starter eventually. This wouldn't be surprising in 2017, when the team just needed bodies. On a contender, it speaks to great scouting. If these three pan out, anything more from this class will be gravy.
