DJ Jones clone, his height plays to his advantage, more playing time will show he's another great pick

Maybe a Wish.com clone. DJ Jones was nearly 20 pounds heavier than Kalia Davis coming out of college. DJ Jones was built like a tank coming out of college.

It's pretty easy to see on tape. Don't take it from me. This is literally from his draft profile.

One-gapping three-technique with terrific snap quickness that creates early advantages with the potential to become full-scale disruptions. Davis is a former linebacker with above-average bend, foot quickness and athleticism to create mismatches for lumbering guards. He needs more schooling and refinement as both a run defender and pass rusher to become capable of competing against the spectrum of talent he will see on the next level. He hasn't played much football over the last two seasons, but his explosive flashes could foreshadow a bright upside as a disruptive, upfield talent.

It's only his first game and he faced Kelce, let's see if that penetration skill start to show in the next couple of weeks against weaker opponents.

Lynch called him like another DJ Jones, that he has that in him, I think Davis will be a very good IDL player, especially next year when Givens and Kinlaw are gone, doubt we can keep Givens, and Kinlaw needs to go.

Yeah no thanks. I like Davis pre-draft. He isn't DJ though.

Agreed.

Davis is athletic for a big man but it doesn't matter if he can't get off blocks... and that's where DJ Jones excelled.

Took two active years for DJ to record a sack, to Davis's first game played

Yeah, I think people just repeat what they heard someone else say, but in reality, DJ Jones and Kalia Davis are not too alike.

But there is, however, a 49er who I think Kalia could become if he works his ass off and realizes his complete potential, and that's Javon Hargrave. Hargrave(6-1, 309 lbs) was another dude that wasn't big or strong and struggled to anchor. He was viewed as being very raw but had upside due to being very athletic. Everyone saw him as a one-gap penetrator who won with get off, effort and quickness. That's exactly who Kalia is.

PFF graded him highly for his pass rush this past week though he had a minimal number of snaps. However, he showed enough to see why the 49ers picked him up.

With Kinlaw continuing to improve, and Davis now available, we should be able to get past these next two weeks without Armstead.
