Davis was drafted to replace DJ Jones. I'm still waiting to see how that pans out.

Kinlaws was drafted to replace Buckner. He will be on some other team next year and we might get a conditional pick in 2025.

I don't think Davis is that type of athlete. DJ Jones was a freaken tank. Kalia doesn't have the bulk or strength that DJ Jones had. Kalia Davis's game is predicated on quickness. He's more like Kevin Givens than DJ Jones. That doesn't mean he's limited to Givens' ceiling or production, but that's who his game more closely resembles. I see him more of a penetrating 3technique than a true nose.

For whatever reason he reminds me of Sheldon Day

Dude was making a ton of plays for some team i was watching red zone

What is this? Some random dude talking in his car?

No game footage; no technical analysis=I do not watch.

I immediately hit the back button when i seen the set up of the video
I saw why they kept him.

He impacted the game in the snaps he played.

Just what we needed - no let-down at all.

Agreed.

Davis is athletic for a big man but it doesn't matter if he can't get off blocks... and that's where DJ Jones excelled.

Yeah, I think people just repeat what they heard someone else say, but in reality, DJ Jones and Kalia Davis are not too alike.

But there is, however, a 49er who I think Kalia could become if he works his ass off and realizes his complete potential, and that's Javon Hargrave. Hargrave(6-1, 309 lbs) was another dude that wasn't big or strong and struggled to anchor. He was viewed as being very raw but had upside due to being very athletic. Everyone saw him as a one-gap penetrator who won with get off, effort and quickness. That's exactly who Kalia is.

Yeah I like this comparison a lot more.

Hard to believe this guy made the switch from MLB to DT in his sophomore year.
He will be an important part of decisions going forward
  • Kinlaw & Givens are 2024 free agents
  • Armstead is a 2025 free agent
  • Both Armstead and Hargrave are on the wrong side of 30
The ideal is that Davis is your primary depth and future starter so the 49ers won't need to spend much on additional DT depth or draft a DT early.
Hope to see more of him than Kinlaw or Givens in this game

Actually it's because he has dreads, we need more of those players hence the reason Logan Ryan was signed and the reason they traded for Chase Young.
Should have been served at Ihop with how he got pancaked so much in the 1st half. He wasn't ready for that type of action. Better in a mop up at the end of the game role.

he seems more of a pass rushing DT and he gets blown off the ball when teams run the ball at him. him and Kinlaw are not having good games and Givens also has had some issues

He is. I tried telling people he's not DJ Jones.

Many people have said this. Ex linebacker that didn't lose his athleticism as he gained weight. He's a quick penetrating DT. We will need to draft a real run stuffer. Preferably two. Kinlaw is definitely gone and Givens likely is. Id like to put both of those space eaters on the field at the same time with AA and Bosa (or Ferrell if he returns) at edge on those obvious running situations.
Any injury update?
