That says he can begin throwing after week 10. That's two months and 10 days.

I disagree with the notion that it's Trey's team unless/until he loses. The Niners starting QB has revealed himself, and it is Brock Purdy. Yes, Lance will get all of the offseason reps and will maybe start the first couple of games as Purdy rehabs, but the comparison of the two players was plain to see, draft status be damned.

I have told you how this is gonna go down. No super bowls have won and Brock played a tick above Jimmy though statistically they were similar. We moved on from Jimmy for Trey because Kyle saw he needed to beat the Mahomes of the world who happens to be a guy that can shred his defenses.

Had Brock beaten Hurts and Mahomes there'd be no question but since he didn't and he's hurt Trey will be prepped to start the season and if he wins he sticks

You say Brock after 8 games has EARNED the job but he did not EARN us a Super Bowl which is the standard and which is why Trey will be given his chance to compete for QB1 while Brock heals. If he's winning we stay with the hot hand if he's not we love to Brock most likely by the bye week

What we have here is a good ole QB competition because we won with Jimmy but not a Super Bowl and that's our ultimate goal

You can't earn it if you cannot play. Think of it this way, we can argue that the reason we got where we were was in part Brock. And we can further extrapolate that had Brock played and not been injured we would have beaten the Eagles and earned the Super Bowl. Thus, he already earned the starting nod long before he got hurt.

Am I missing something here? Did he not just do this?
Kind of confused at all of the "brock is a good backup to Trey" talk. So far, it has been beyond clear who is more ready to win in the NFL. IT would take Trey looking better than Purdy did last season to have a controversy. And i hope he does, but to think that is probable is just not being realistic

Bro you know trey will get all the time with the ones. And start game 1. It's common sense. Should there be a battle yes, both qbs want one. Yet there won't be one. If trey loses Brock will enter.

Yes but while the original starter last season, will have all the reps with the ones. He will start. Brock will be cleared to fully participate week 1. He needs to get in playing shape, shake the rust off. I think he's better today, I don't think he will be better in the long run. Trey plays, if he wins he stays. History shows starters don't lose their job to injuries. I believe that Super Bowl would have been ours had Alex stayed the starter. But you don't want players knowing they will lose their job permanently to injuries. Not a good look with the players

Yes he did. The exact words from kittle was it's his job to lose. Which means a qb battle. If he meant Brock was the starter he wouldn't have added that at the end. Yet there is not a possibility of competition, because Brock won't be on the field until late offseason or week 1 and that's best case scenario
This is good news for Brock, the team & us. This is going to be a fun year coming up. Lets see what the team does in FA and the draft. OT, DE, DL, CB, K, TE. Did I leave anything out as far as needs? Oh yea backup QB.

QB1
Lance having all the reps is going to be a good thing regardless of how he turns out. If he balls, we have excellent trade capital with Purdy, if Lance doesn't do well but looks good enough to be a backup/marginal starter someplace, we can recoup some draft capital at some level, or we keep him as a backup for another season.

In the meantime,

I agree it's good to build up Lances value. When Brock is healthy it's his job. I don't see Lance improving that much to supplant Brock

He's going to start week 1.

When did you get on the Trey Lance wagon?

Ok first, in no known universe can we assume or "extrapolate" that we would have won that game if Brock wasn't injured. Second, you would have to see how well or poorly he played in that game AND the Super Bowl to determine his right to have the starting nod.

Nope. When we get another Lombardi we have done the job. Jimmy got us to the Super Bowl and even had a two score lead over KC late fourth quarter . We could've stuck with Jimmy for that. We want to BEAT Mahomes and not just get there

QB1 will be determined this offseason but there will be a 1a and a 1B and if we falter under Trey we will see a new QB1. Now had Purdy been healthy Brock would've had the inside track but just as Trey's injury led to Purdy's opportunity this past season So did Purdy's lead to Treys chance now

Its the posters that are in denial that trey isn't who they thought he was when he was drafted.
