According to who? He's less than a month post surgery.
It's only March, bubba. March - August (6 months), he's on schedule for the opener, sweetheart,
the reality of the situation is even if the TL stays at 6 months…that's like a couple days before WK1. Kyle isn't tossing him out there with zero off season workouts.
now if he gets a good month of TC of legit practice (not just throwing some balls on the sideline) then it's different…you or I have no idea about any of that. I've outlined the surgery and some background on it…it's not a hey it's 6 months he's 100% no matter what situation…it's a ligament. Not a broken bone or torn tendon. It's a fairly new surgery that doesn't have a lot of prior QBs that have had it.

i still can't believe he came in as a 7th round rookie and performed at that level. It's amazing. Lol less 1% of that happening. so wild
This is true, but I do think that we overrate his performance because we expected nothing.
I love Brock, and think he'll get even better, but I do wonder if Brock had been the #3 overall pick we traded up for, would we be saying that he needs to show more?
What if Trey was the last pick in the draft? Are we more excited by what he did?
I believe in both, but I would like Trey to get a few more games to show us more.

He's that dude why? Cause he took over a season where the offense was rolling? Would he look the same if he took over from day 1? I like Brock and what he did but this whole branding him as the franchise QB is too soon and not enough sample size. We all saw what happened
to Jimmy after his 5-0 winning streak.

What the hell has trey shown us?? I am always so perplexed at statements like this. Trey has shown nothing. Granted he's had a minimal opportunity, but let's not act like he's shown ANYTHING when he's played. He hasn't.

Just because you don't know what you're watching doesn't mean you yelling on a message board makes you correct.
He didn't play as well as Brock did but there are also other things at play where comparing the two isn't so straight forward and saying Trey hasn't shown ANYTHING means you either don't know wtf you're watching, you simply forgot, or don't want to acknowledge Trey showed plenty of good in his limited play.

Trey would probably be given more slack if he was a late round pick, even a second round pick, but his performance has been rough regardless. You have to realize that his stats are bad in his starts besides one game, the offense couldn't score more than 10PPG in 2/3 and 14PPG overall. So it isn't even that his stats are bad, he hasn't managed to operate the offense, it's been essentially inept. Realistically, even the Texans game, he really only did anything in 1.5 quarters that game. I think we had 0 or 3 points. So, that's 1.5/12 quarters that he has done anything as an entire offense. Which not all of that is treys fault but Jimmy/Purdy had the same offense (Purdy didn't have deebo most of the time and Lance didn't have kittle/CMC - but you can't act like they had scrubs in their place) and averaged like 24-30PPG.
so, yes, I'd say he would still be criticized - only difference would be that everyone would say "well what did you expect from a late round pick? Exactly what we are seeing".
the real question is this - "If Lance was a 2nd/late round pick, would anyone be remotely interested in continually trying to give him a chance?" I think some will say yes, but a majority won't. A lot of folks seem more interested in trying to salvage the resources we spent on him, than being rational about who should be starting when everyone's healthy.

This is the Brock thread so I don't want to get too sidetracked (maybe someone smarter can transfer this bit to the Trey thread?)
It's not about stats with Trey, it's that everyone who had doubts about his resume and the trade up cost can't get passed it.
Trey has shown flashes of being able to do everything a QB needs to do. Is that enough? Probably not considering the cost and Brock's play, but my point is that with fresh eyes anyone should be able to see the potential.
Also, who has continually given chances? Dude has played 3 whole games!

I'm just enjoying the ride man. That is the best part. Waiting years for a QB that played amazing to solidify himself is for the outsiders. Fans are supposed to enjoy the ride.
We know Brock has not solidified himself. His future is up in the air, but if he ends up being the next 9er great, you're going to look back and know you didn't truly get to enjoy the ride. Don't be that guy

I'm not sure what more Brock could have shown, obviously he doesn't have a rocket arm but as a fan base we know much as anyone that a rocket arm is not the be all and end all of being a great QB.
Highest passer rating in the NFL and a flawless win-loss record when playing more than 1 quarter of a game.

This is honestly not a shot at Brock, I think he's been great, I just feel the optics may be different if he wasn't the last pick of the draft with 0 expectation.
I think we'd hear more "well he only played, half a year Jimmy looked great for 5 games"
Or "The team were so great, he didn't have to do much"
Or "He hasn't been in a position where we needed him to throw for us to win"
Brock won the job with his play, but let's not forget that Trey lost it to injury, not poor play.
If Trey wins it back while Brock is injured then so be it.
