Played better in 2017? That's debatable.

Not in my opinion.

Lol well okay then it's settled

Jimmy's play was pretty freaking good considering who he was throwing the ball too vs what Brock has been tossed into. I was told that matters…or it doesn't guess it depends on the narrative.

And if you actually took the time to read through this thread, you would see that no one is claiming otherwise. Brock is QB1 unless other things prevent that from happening (injury taking too long, Trey playing exceptional and too well to be benched, etc.)

Lol NY clearly tried to go against me when I mention Brock as QB1.

My whole point was the situation is WAY MORE fluid than what you're trying to push…sure he's the leader in the clubhouse. He's not officially named the QB1 as of today. No one is. If Lance or even Sam have a great camp and Brock isn't able to participate. He's not gonna be the guy day 1. If Lance of Sam play well come WK2 or whatever. They aren't automatically back to the backup job once Brock is healthy.

this isn't a we have a pro-bowl QB on the roster and he will be the starter regardless. Our QB situation is very fluid. That is the reality of all of it.

You could argue Jimmy played better considering the s**tty team he had around him.
One had CMC, Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, Jennings, Mitchell around him.
The other Carlos Hyde, rookie Brieda, Goodwin, Aldrick Robinson, rookie Bourne, rookie Kittle.
And let´s not talk about the defenses.
Jimmy is what he is at this point but he changed a lot of things when he started in 2017.

I think Purdy was the best Niners QB quite clearly this season and I think he´s perfect for Kyle with the way he processes the game and his scrambling ability. But Jimmy in 2017 elevated the whole team. That Jaguars game seriously.

If one of Sam or Lance is having an amazing camp and takes command of all of it, they can very well be the WK1 starter…Brock's injury makes it even more murky.

this isn't a QB room with a defined starter who's a pro-bowler making a bunch of cash. Where the hierarchy and roles are well laid out.

If Lance is the WK1 starter for whatever reason and plays well…he will continue to be the starter. No different than when Brock became the starter and played well. Also imo the reverse is true. If Brock is the starter and doesn't play well. He's not gonna remain the starter regardless. That's my opinion on it.

So in your opinion you think Shanahan would make that call based off of just one start? What if it's raining?

And overall it was fools gold. Jimmy wasn't an awful QB but he wasn't that top 5 QB prospect that some thought. They gave him $125M and the keys to the car. Now weren't suppose to do the same for Brock?

I understand not doing the same for Lance. You gotta prove it…I just don't think it's a situation where we have a true proven guy and everyone else is a backup. I think the QB room is fluid. Brock earned the right to be the leader in the clubhouse right now. I don't think he's earned the right to be the guy no matter what happens regarding his play on the field and the others in the QB room.

Grrr krizay hates context when it's not fitting his narrative. If Lance plays well I'm sure you will be fair and objective

So if he plays well you are benching him the next game to start Brock?

Clearly. I mean Brock's got years of high end QB play backing him up
Why is Grant Cohn the only hack who reports that Purdy is the absolute starter and Lance/Darnold is 2,3 and it's all completely set in stone. Literally no other reporters have this 100% absolute take. Seems kinda strange. Shanahan has never dealt in absolutes with anything, no reason to.

Its like the old Seattle D. The CBs held almost every play thinking the refs wouldn't call it every single time. Grant will say anything to get clicks. He doesn't care if he is wrong because he knows nothing will happen.

With you being fair and objective? True, that is an uphill battle.

Brock is my QB1. As I have said, we seen Brock run Kyle's offense to something similar to Matt Ryan's SB year. So yes, I would roll with Brock.

Trey's play well could easily be sputtering through 2 1/2 quarters of football then connecting on a deep ball to a wide open Deebo.

Besides, if we can't judge Brock off of 8 great games. Then how can we judge Trey off of 1 "very well" game? If we can't judge Trey off of 5 bad quarters. How can we judge him on just 4 "very well" quarters? If we can't judge Trey off of 100 "random" pass attempts, how can we judge him on 20-30?
