You're 100% correct that no one can say definitively. I just take in outside context, as well as my own thoughts/perceptions, when I say he doesn't. I really don't know though.

I've always heard that it doesn't take long to know what a qb is capable of, especially when you're with them everyday on a team. It's why I think Lance is more of a really good game manager in his prime. I could be wrong though.

I think this is extremely true and well said. KS and JL they know as much football as any two men on the planet. They have been around TL since April 2021. So about 2 full years now. I think they know a tremendous deal about who he is / what he can or can't do. We may not as fans, we hardly have seen him play, but they know in the bldg.

I think they like Trey and believe he could be good with time....the problem is they hit a home run on their 7th rounder and their roster is loaded so can and should they go through growing pains with Trey NOW that they have Brock. I understand the thinking and its no insult to anyone involved. If anything the blessing i Brock having an injury so they get another fresh look with Lance and maybe he gets a few games in to see where he is at.

I think they're looking to trade Trey because they've determined that he will not be good with time. Kyle's offense is not a heavy quarterback run offense, and if he's calling that, it's Only because he doesn't trust him to execute what he wants to run. And two years, even on the practice field, was enough to determine that.

Purdy set a high bar.

This. If they really thought Trey was going to take off last year or thought he was going to be a superstar, would any of this be happening?

it was all hype.. I actually felt bad for Trey, even Vegas had him high on the MVP odds... I'm not sure how many of the SHANANIGANS put some money that our HC will make him the MVP..

as for B-Rock, I still believe that he should take the whole year off... Shanny (IMO) will not give him a fair shot because it's year 3 for Trey and he needs to show the team that he's as good as IF not better than B-Rock..

Trey shows no improvement this upcoming season and it'll be Mark Sanchez and Trubisky all over again..

Right, you don't bench someone that you genuinely believe has superstar potential.

Which is why Brock was named QB1

Apparently Patrick Mahomes is not a super star.

Lol If that's what you got from what I said; then you misinterpreted it.

They couldn't keep him on the bench because he was blowing people away in practice while Alex smith was starting. So they gave him the keys. Even though Alex was playing very well

Lance didn't blow anyone away, quite the opposite, they had to tell him to be more aggressive and take chances. They gave him the keys cause they essentially had to and wanted to see what he had, he got injured, and someone else showed them what they want. Meaning Trey didn't blow them away the last two years with what he's shown in practice, camp, or his few games. So they're going with purdy when he's healthy.

very different. Doesn't mean that Lance will never be good but it's telling when an organization does that. That's my interpretation. Feel free to feel different.

Players with "it" or special abilities flash it and when they do, it sticks out. If Lance starts doing that and reports come out regarding that - I'll change my tune. You can't just say since he hasn't played in games and that's why he hasn't done that. Special players show flashes. Always has been that way. Even purdy did that. The team was shocked by his play in his minimal snaps. That's why they kept him and loss two mil on Sudfield. They where so confident in him that they were willing to go into the season with him as qb2

The 49er QB who displays the ability to stay on the field will win the job.

And the name of that QB may be 3 QBs.

Said Ryans: "He had that kind of 'it' factor that I was talking about earlier when the defenders, they see it, and they notice it, and they want to get behind the guy. That's what Brock had. He had the 'it' factor where he had that play-making ability to where it galvanized the defense."

"They were behind him, and they knew he had something special to him, and everybody believed in him because you can see the type of plays that he was making," Ryans said.
😍

lol but Lance needs the defense to tell him to take chances 😈

very similar to what Fred said about Brock. I like how Ryan mentions the impact QB play has on the defense.

That's why wins and losses are more a QB stat than any other stat in my opinion.
